4. Use winamp or sumthin and check to make sure that the cutt-ed song has an ID3v2 Tag. You can check this by right clicking the song while playing in winamp and press file info.
5. If ID3v2 tag isnt there, just create one. You dont have to have anything there.
Im not too sure if u need to do the whole ID3v2 thingy, i just read it somewhere and i did it. It works.
| Just wanted to confirm that creating ID3v2 is a required step, my phone didn't allow me to save as a ringtone when I didn't have it. Thanks alot for the hookup man!
...and yes I even gave you some rep as well

then you can change extensions without a problem | Okay, excuse the slow kid; I'm still trying to get this to work; I made the change that JeanieSing suggested but when I try to play whatever.mid in WinAmp, it shows up as 0.00 for the length; as in, nothing there. Now what?

Now what? | I actually figured out how to do it on my A930 using a method I found on Howard Forums. So long Get It Now at $2.99 a song...

I believe you get charged one minute of airtime for the data reception. This isn't considered downloading, all you are doing is sending an MP3 file to your phone. You've already done the downloading, whether it be something off the net, or something you already have on disc, etc., that you dumped onto your computer beforehand; and then put thru the 'editing' process to set the file up correctly.
All told, the whole process takes me maybe five minutes; the only thing it doesn't include (time wise) is the downloading of whatever song, sound, etc. you're going to use and also how long it takes to get to your phone once you email it there, you have no control over that. Smaller files are somewhat instantaneous, large ones take longer, but I've gotten most of them the same day I do it.
If I got these thru Get It Now, I would've spent $50 or $100 already, easily.
Pricewise from top to bottom, you're looking at say, $20 for a good software editing program, there may even be free ones on the 'net; and any stuff you buy off of I-Tunes, or whevever you get your music. I'm sure most people got plenty of music laying around too, that they can use for this kind of stuff.

#30 | | Newbie | I use MyxerTones :: Ringtones from your music! and I can do all this for FREE! It is ALL FREE! You can even post your own ringtones that you make and sell them. This site is pretty incredible and there are no setup fees, you can load an mp3 from your computer and choose any part of the song to create a ringtone from and it automatically sends it to your phone as a MMS msg. You open it, choose Options, and select "Save as Ringtone"....bada bing bada boom....all for FREE! No Get It Now charges...EVER! | | | |
