Having problems getting through to T-mobile,
I have a data card for my laptop, on an ancient plan where £13.50 a month
gets 100Mb of
gprs data (no
3G or owt) was fine when i was traveling about
in the uk in the motorhome, but i havent stayed on a campsite in the Uk for
almost 2 years now, going abroad where it's much cheaper, so the
gprs thingy
don't work over there.... or if i tried to use it i'd be charged 6 quid a
meg,
So i havent used the data card for well over 6 months, and the previous 6
months was 2 or 3 megs a month just to see if it still worked.
Anyway, as the 'phone' is a data card, i have to phone the 0845 number from
a landline, this apparantly gives me a different set of options to the ones
i'd get if i called from a t-mobile phone.
Anyway, i call the 0845 number, and all i can figure out to do is go for the
'other enquirey' option each time, i get put through to an american bloke
with an accent i can hardly decipher, but i tell him i want to cancel, get
told it's the wrong department, and i need to call 150 from the t-mobile
phone, option 2, option 1 for the retention department.....
i tell him it's a data card and hence has no keypad, mic or ear piece, so i
can't call a number from it, plus my new laptop isnt set up to even accept
the card, so i couldent call the number from the laptop if that were
possible (i guess it is, with a lot of faffing about)
So he says he'll try to put me through, comes back and says they've got a 10
minute delay and recomends i call back tommorow.. using 150 from the
t-mobile phone, option 2, then 1, and that's it!!
I would have happily waited 10 minutes, but that wasnt an option it seems.
So now i'm stuck, i tried searching on-line for a way to cancel the contract
via the on-line billing thingy, but it seems you can't do it that way,
So, does anyone know the options i need to enter into a normal landlin to
get the 'retention' department?? i gather it's called that because i'll have
to sit through 20 minutes of reasons why i should stay with them, better
offers and all that crap before i'll be allowed to cancel it,
Or is there another way to cancel this damn contract.. short of canceling
the direct debit, i've had the contract 3 or so years, so i'm well out of
any time limits before i can cancel, and i just don't use the thing,
