How do they call it "Freeringers" when you're paying $7?

Re: Verizon MP3 Ringtone problems? Solution!

Crown me king cus i got it to work =)

Someone sticky this hahaha

N e ways ill just spill it through easy directions

1. Download or browse your comp. for your favorite song

2. Cut the song so that it stays below 300k !!! which means the songs around 12 - 18 seconds long

3. Now save the cutt-ed song with a new extension ".mid" For example if you have Mariah-Through the chicken, rename it Mariah-Through the chicken.mid

4. Use winamp or sumthin and check to make sure that the cutt-ed song has an ID3v2 Tag. You can check this by right clicking the song while playing in winamp and press file info.

5. If ID3v2 tag isnt there, just create one. You dont have to have anything there.

6. OK now after the assembling part, the sending part...I have a card reader, but it wouldnt read. So, use your email i.e. yahoo, aol, msn, etc and sent it to YOURNUMBER@VZWPIX.COM and attach file with the cutt-ed song.

7. Retrieve your message, save into My_Sounds or wutever it was and set it as a
ringtone.

I used Nero Wave Editor, Renamed to .mid as above and sent it to my u740.. works like a charm.. it doesn't work to copy to micro card though.

thanks to Brainster!!

Here is smoke on the water as a mid. file if anyone would like it. it also has a scenic photo virus free in a .rar file.. thanks and hope you like it.

Re: Verizon MP3 Ringtone problems? Solution!

this worked like a CHAMP!!!!! used Ringtone Ripper (Make your own ringtones with ringtone ripper beta) to rip the MP3 to 20 seconds.. once it made the new smaller file, renamed it to .mid emailed it to PHONENUMBER@vzwpix.com and could save as RINGTONE!!! THANKS SO MUCH now my wife is very happy with all her new ringtones!~!

Im not too sure if u need to do the whole ID3v2 thingy, i just read it somewhere and i did it. It works.

It sure as hell beats buying ringtones directly from Verizon...

Someone check to make sure it works, if it doesnt then just talk and ill try and figure it out...

Heres a clip someone can try with, its Pharell Williams new song with Snoop Dogg

Re: Verizon MP3 Ringtone problems? Solution!

Hi all,

I tried this and it doesn't work with the Samsung SCH-a950. The Pharell song doesn't playback in the email sent back to the phone and when you click on save sound, the phone say it is unsupported format. I have tried everything to get an mp3 file as a ringtone short of having to buy one from Verizon. Just doesn't seem to work with this model!
I did find out that I can pretty much use any midi file and just transfer it to my microSD via data cable. There are many free midi websites out there but I find that new age music sounds most realistic such as Enya and Yanni and karaoke versions of popular songs.
The SCH-a950 reads files and if it is anything other than a true midi file or qcp file, it will say that the file is unsupported.
You CAN convert mp3s and wav files in qcp format (True Voice) but the sound quality will be awful. There are several websites that will do this for you free.

Re: Verizon MP3 Ringtone problems? Solution!

I have yet to see this work. I send the files to my phone via Email (Phonenumber@vzwpix.com) and my phone just...doesnt get them. I don't know if they take a long time, or what. I have a samsung SCH-u740, and verizongay.
