W300i questions - Case and texting

My daughter has a white case 300i that's an import. Service is Cingular; she wanted the white case rather than black, which is why we got the import version instead of a Cingular W300i.

I have three questions:

1) She has never been able to send photos through email - Cingular says it's because the phone isn't a Cingular phone. Is there a workaround for this? Maybe an upgrade we haven't found? (And a site where we might find it?)

2) Late this week (Friday) the phone suddenly stopped sending text messages. She can get as far as the Send function, but when she presses Send, it tells her "Send Failed". Any idea what's wrong, and how we might correct it? Software change/upgrade?

3) Edited to read: I found the answer to question#3 today - yes, the case can be changed, so if I can't solve these problems, I'll get her a Cingular W300i with black case and switch the white case over to it. She really likes that white case.

You more than likely just need to get the settings for your daughter's phone through the Sony Ericsson website. Once you're there, go to downloads or support, fill in the appropriate fields, and the settings will be sent to you via text.

You can also update the firmware through Sony Ericsson Update Service. Just download the client to your PC, use the data cable that was supplied to you, and connect.

I got to the Sony website last night and may have managed to solve at least one problem. Now my daughter can send me a picture in a message, but it doesn't come directly to my motorola phone. it goes to a website and I have to retrieve it with a username and password.

But at least she can send them!

As for the text message, she found an unconventional fix: give it to the other sister's boyfriend and let him punch buttons for an hour. he got the text messaging working, although we're not sure how.

The software updates at the Sony website are an EXCELLENT idea. my other daughter also has a Sony phone and we downloaded stuff for her phone, too!
