Sim Card compatibility

My brother lives in Canada, and has a Rogers Wireless plan with a SIM Card. If I buy him a Unlocked GSM phone from USA, will it work with his SIM Card in Canada? I am trying to get him a nice phone, and need to make sure that the phone will work with his Rogers sim card. Could someone give me some more information on this?

The point of unlocking a phone is so that it can be used on *ANY* GSM network.

thanx for the quick reply....sorry if this question sounds pathetic but it should work if i just buy an unlocked phone off ebay....do u know any good places to get cheap and good unlocked phones online?

i just want to make sure before i buy a phone then to find it doesnt work...

I've never personally unlocked a phone so I honestly don't know.

If you do a Google search I'm sure you'll find lots.

Just type in the phone model and the word UNLOCKED on ebay. : )

I got an unlocked Fido/Rogers razr V3 that I bought in Edmonton and I use it in Russia, Germany & Ukraine all with different providers so if it is unlocked it should work here in North America with providers.

yah if its unlocked, then you can use it anywhere in the world...that's my specialty muhaha
