Samsung U740 Tones & Pics

Hello...

Sorry if I'm asking for too much in one thread. I just got this phone brand new after my A930 crapped out.

With the 930 I was emailing pics to my phone using the vzwpix.com address and customizing my own tones and sending them to the same address.

Can I also do the same thing with this phone?

Thank you! Do I have to do anything differently? I tried sending a tone to the phone and it came back to my email as undeliverable; same thing with a picture. It mentioned the SMTP and gave a host address...

Just to clarify, I am using this address : 1234567890@vzwpix.com and attaching the file to the email, just like I did with the A930.

For some reason, unbeknowst to me, I managed to successfully send 2 custom tones to my phone. I followed my usual procedure, which only changed by one step, I had to make sure it had a 'tag' (in WinAmp) in the #2 position; on the ride side of WinAmp.

All the rest of the time, I mainly get a message back like this:

Delivery to the following recipients failed permanently:

* 1234567890@vzwpix.com

Technical details:

SMTP: host 69.78.65.166: (null)

Anything I can do differently to insure successful delivery to my phone?

It started out pretty temperamental but seems to working better at receiving tones. Some still come back undeliverable but not as many, a bunch have gone through.

ok i have the u740. i am like totally confused on how to "tag" the cut song.
i can cut the mp3 with audocity to around 15 second clips. i then rename the file to .mid or is it .MID? what is the next step? all help would be greatly appreciated!!

I don't know anything about Audocity (sp?) but that sounds like the software you are using to create and customize the actual ringtone.

What you need to do after that, before you email the ringtone to your phone, is open the file in WinAmp and open the File Info section. There you will see where you can create Tag 1 and Tag 2. You only want to create Tag 2 and the way you do that is to check the box at the top and that should do it for you.

Then you can send it to your phone.
