Nokia 6300

My operator O2 transferred my old credit and mobile number to my new sim
card but the new phone still retains the new and unused number when using
"Contacts" > "My numbers".
O2 tell me that it cannot be changed whilst Nokia say it is down to my
network operator.
Anyone any idea how to change the number to my old one please.

Re: Nokia 6300

I have had a similar problem with several phones, I think it is embedded in
the sim and cant be altered or erased, I have had to come to terms with it,
deal with it face on and get used to the fact that I will probably have to
live with it for the rest of my life, just try to push it to the back of
your mind, keeping busy and your mind occupied can help

Having had my number transferred across several mobile operators and sim's,
its the operator who holds the answer. The sim transmits its id to the
network, network checks it against its user database and then transmits your
number back when you request it. That's briefly how Vodafone explained it
several years ago when I had to buy a PAYG 'phone and use it on monthly
contract. Unlocked by them and number and service transferred in a few
days.

I wonder if the OP can physically edit the stored number in contacts, that's
what I do on several of my 'phones.
