Re: Software for your Motorola phones

Hi there, total Nub here.... I have been searching for my answer for awhile. Just maybe need a little kick in the butt in the right direction. I am just looking to add a few tones to my phone. I installed MPT and seems to detect my phone but cant identify it. It is a i580.

Am I using the right s/w? or is there a better one to try?

Thanks for any help

A rar file is the same thing as a zip file (compressed file) you just need to unzip it and find out what it does and if it can brick your phone before you just "drop" it in. Let us know how it goes there are plenty of walkthoughs and we have a pretty knowledgable staff, so don't be afraid to ask for help.

Re: Software for your Motorola phones

Transferring contacts from Moto razr to pc?
Ok here's the question:

My cousin has a motorola razr the led screen is cracked and you can't get any visual on the screen except a white screen with a black streak through it. ( you can't see nothing...)

What we are atempting to is:

I want to transfer the contact list from the razr to a readable file on my pc desk top. So I can manually add them one by one to the LG?( LG model unkown and doesn't matter cause I want to add them in one at a time.)

I have the MSU software and P2kCommander from this site:
(http)://aznuwee.googlepages(dot)com
( With usb data cable and drivers.)
( Lg doesn't have bluetooth, so i can't use that?.)

I can get into the phone files. I just can't find the contacts file and down load them to the pc to view them?

Does any one know where the contact list is located in the razr phone and how to read it the files with a pc? Useing the software and drivers I have?

Please help if you can answer this one?

Thanks a bunch...

I haven't used Mpt (Motorola phone tools) in awhile but last I knew one of the tabs allowed you to do this. If your using mpt and haven't found this let me know and I'll do some more research.

Motorola Phone Tools creates unlimited communication possibilities by synchronizing your cell phone with your PC and allowing you to exploit the most powerful features of your phone: Connect your cell phone to your laptop and get Internet access via cellular networks when there are no WiFi options available. Synchronize your PC and cell phone contacts in Outlook. Send SMS messages directly from your laptop. Create your own ringtones, wallpaper and MMS slide shows and transfer them to your cell phone. Our wireless Bluetooth solution makes it even more convenient to use Mobile PhoneTools on the road.

Re: Software for your Motorola phones

hey all,

I had the Moto Krazr Km1. I successfully added mp3's as ringtones and was able to access all the files in that phone. It also worked on the razr.

Griffzan is correct the p2k commander will work.. I had to also use the the (MSU) Motorola Update Software program. this is the way i used the software.

First off:
1.) Connect your phone useing the data cable with usb drivers installed.
2.) Start the MSU software. NOTE: you might have to give the MSU a few seconds to reconize your phone. When it finds it you will see your phones ESN number in the lower left hand side. Don't do nothing with the MSU just leave it running.
3.) Start the P2K Commander after it starts the select phone in the top drop down box on the left.. After that you should see the files in your phone from there it's up to you.

PLEASE NOTE:
If you are adding ringtones..? You will need to delete this file MyTonesDB.db before restarting the phone. Other wise you will not be able to assign the new ringtones to a specific caller...

If you want the link for the software here it is: Well i have posted enough to be abl to leave the link so just pm or email me if you want complete instructions and the software you will need to do this..
This site will indicate it's for the Moto Krazr but it has worked for me on other models...Good Luck..!!!!.....

Well, I'll post mine. Thanks for the invite, since I just joined this evening. I apologize upfront if this is written in the wrong section. But I am looking for software for my Motorolas. I have a MOTORAZRV3 and upgraded to a MOTOKRZR Km1. I love the RAZR style. It has served me well with all the abuse I have given it. Anyway, for the past few months, I have been getting txt messages from "what shall I call them..." just not nice people. I think I am filtering them out okay so that one won't bother me anymore. Is there anything that can be downloaded to prevent this? The very first time it happened, I mistakenly opened it up. Huge mistake. That was a month ago. Now they know my cell number is a "live" one. I now get one or two a day. I don't open them, but I have to take all these steps to filter them out so my phone won't get that particular one again. There has to be an easier way. I don't even know if I am filtering it out right. The manual doesn't tell you much. So I would love to download some "anti-invader" software. Also I read today that one should download antivirus software on the phone. I never thought of that. I use a great free one for my computer, but I imagine it has to be just for cellphones? Here I thought I knew so much.

If your getting text messages from a single one person, the only way thay I know of to avoid them and you'll still get them it just won't ring or chime, is to save their number in your contacts and set it up so their ringtone is "silent". If it's a mass of different people and the messages are coming through e-mail to your phone you can do a search on google for the site that the e-mails are coming from and etheir unsubscribe or report them as a spam site and the e-mails will "eventually" stop, you can also contact you service provider and remove the ability to send and recieve messages. You can also check with your provider to see if there is any way for them to filter the sender for you or your local police if you want to take it as far as harasment. Good luck but there are very few things to do that are fool proof, outside of changing your number.
