If you get a Verizon smartphone, then you can very easily set it up to use your plan. You'll probably want a data plan, though, since Pay-as-you-Go data usage for smartphones is one cent per kilobyte (not $1.99 per MB!). You could also block data, but that would kind of defeat the purpose of getting a smartphone.

As for suggested phones, Treos are very good. However, they're also fairly expensive. If you can afford it, I'd get the Treo 755p. The equivalent Windows Mobile version of that would be the 700w, but it's $100 more for basically the same features.

How to transfer your data from your RAZR to your new phone will really depend on what new phone you get. Post a new topic about this once you get your new phone.

First of all, you should probably set your new phone up for service. To do this, you should register for My Account Online. Once that's set up, click the Go button under "My Phone" and then click "Activate Phone". Enter your new phone's ESN. (If your new phone has a removable battery, the ESN is located under the battery. If not, the ESN is on the back of the phone.)

Once that's set up, you should download BitPim. Set it up to connect to your old phone and put anything you want to copy, on your desktop. It's pretty easy. Then, make a connection to your new phone and transfer what you just took off your old phone, on your new phone.

However, there are some things you won't be able to copy off your old phone, like anything from VCAST or Get It Now.

Verizon phones don't have WiFi. They want you to pay for the data plan. However, there are a few ways around that if you know where to look...like your PM folder...

Actually, that's not completely correct (not the part about them wanting you to pay for a data plan, that's absolutely true)--there are two phones that have wifi capabilities available through Verizon.

The VX-6800 and the Samsung SCH-i760 can both access the internet using 802.11b/g wifi access instead of a purchased data plan. I spent a lot of time researching this myself at the end of last year trying to find the same thing.

Now if only they'd come down in price, I'd get one of them myself...
