Sounds Help

I just switched to Verizon and bought a Motorazr v3m the other day and I am unable to set any sounds i record as my ringtone. I was able to do this when I was with Cingular, and my friend that has a Verizon razr can do this. Is this possible or do I have to purchase all my ringtones?

This is probably because you have a different (newer) software version loaded on your phone than your friend. Verizon often locks features in newer versions of their software. The only way to downgrade is to find the older software and put it on your phone yourself with a data cable. You will then be able to set sounds as ringtones.

Re: Sounds Help

Do you know how i can get the older software?
This might be a stupid question, but do you think there is a tutorial on how to do this somewhere?

Re: Sounds Help

It's pretty easy. You'll need a USB cable, though.

1. Find a copy of QPST (for legal reasons, I can't post a link to it here, but it's pretty easy to find on Google).

2. Find a copy of the old software you want to flash to (since you have a V3m, try here).

3. Connect your phone to your computer.

4. Launch QPST.

5. Select the Software Upgrade option.

6. Select your phone and the file you downloaded in step 2.

7. Enjoy your phone!

Sounds like you didn't install the drivers. Are you sure you installed them?

Go to "My Computer". Do you see your phone listed as a storage device?

It should be working...

Go to the tech area of a store and say "My phone is slow, so customer service told me to downgrade the software."
