Alltel Ringtones (3rd Party)

Is there any way I can get ringtones from a 3rd party website like phonezoo.com and send them to my phone? I think alltel blocks them somehow because every time i try and get it, it says unable to download image/audio. Is there a hack or anything? I have an lg ax380 (THE WAVE).

I'm with you, hovs.
I just joined this forum to try to find out just that. So, far, all my searching leads me to believe that Altell doesn't want anyone to have anything not generated by them.

Several months ago, we signed up with Altell family plan. Everybody got new high tec phones but me. I settled for a used motorola with no bells or whistles, which was good enough for my limited cell use. However, I was bummed to find out that I couldn't get a specific ringtone that I just would love to have, because my phone didn't have internet capabilities. Specifically, It was the sound of a Dragster revving up and heading down the dragstrip. Several of which I was able to find on the internet.
For xmas, my wife and daughter teamed up and got me a new Motorola V710, mostly just so I could get the ringtone I really liked. My daughter got the sound I wanted to my cell phone (from Audiosparx) and it's in my inbox.
Problem is that we are unable to transfer it to the ringtone section.
We didn't know what type of file, so we had it sent as a MP3.
I took a trip to my local Altell dealer, where we got our plan from, and he was unable to do it, and as a last resort he called Altell technical service and was told that it wasn't an Altell product that we wanted and refused to go any further. Local Alltell dealer said try to have it sent in MIDI format, But Audiosparx doesn't support MIDI.
After 2 days of internet dead ends, I guess I just need someone to tell me to quit beating on a dead horse and settle from the meager crappy offerings that Altell will allow. I'm 72. I don't want all of the latest teenybopper hit tunes!
I just wanted to buy 1 ringtone, 1 time. I guess in this fickle day and age, that's not the norm.

Just downloaded a MP3 ringtone from phonezoo, no problem. I had never done it before & just followed the instructions.

Thanks for taking time to answer.
#1 I didn't find what I want on that site (phonezoo)
#2 Did you download yours into a Motorola V-710?
and #3, if so, how did you get it from your inbox to the ringtones section of the phone?

Thanks,
Clay

Re: Alltel Ringtones (3rd Party)

Alltel does not block 3rd parties when it comes to ringtones, videos etc. I have been using 3guppies.com to get all my custom made ringtones and videos. I have the lg wave also and when I don't use 3guppies, I use windows movie maker and Tunebite to make my ringtones. Once I figured out the correct format the wave uses for videos (3g2) I added about 20 videos to my microsd card I love my wave and Alltel.

I downloaded to a V9m. It was my first download ever & simply followed the instructions. Went to text message, opened & it became my ring tone.

This is the only site I have downloaded from, but there are others out there. You could always make your own, but more of a hassle.

im having the same issue as about. i get the text, but says cant open, or download the media file. I looked on phonezoo and it said they worked with all tell to let them do it through texting.. I have the ax260 scoop. so it might be one of those fun unsupported phones lol

I just don't know anymore! I went to 3guppies for the first time in a while and good grief! they changed everything. I tried to make a ringtone with a mp3 already on my puter and 3guppies would only give me the first 30 seconds of the song! The hook of the song is the part I want for the ringtone, not the beginning! Anyways... I find it much more simple to just use windows movie maker & tunebite to make mine. Then I just transfer them to my phones memory card and like magic "its in there"

What kind of phone do you have?

Next, you actually was able to set a different ringtone without buying it from Alltel?

I have yet to get a ringtone to work from a download to setting it on my phone.

I have a LG Scoop and a 2GB microSD Card.

Re: Alltel Ringtones (3rd Party)

it all depends what phone you have from Alltel.
I have successfully made ringtones for my rzr, from a free site called

Ventones.com

it works well, after you upload the mp3 file, you make the ringtone, and they text you a link, and you simply follow it. However, there are certain phones they are blocked. For example, the Scoop. Its impossible.
With most phones from Alltel, you can register with axcessmypics.com
like the poster above me mentioned, and you will receive the ringtone in a picture message. However, the scoop is totally blocked.

Here's the link to Ventones
