Re: Helpful Verizon Codes

I'm referring to when you call a Verizon number, and THEIR voicemail comes on. You can press 1 to skip to the beep and leave a voicemail.

A different question: Is there a code which will identify the Tower my phone is in contact with?
Thanks.

No. Not that you would ever need to know that type of information... unless you happen to work for Verizon's network team.

Re: Helpful Verizon Codes

Hi John, or anyone who may know,

The software update codes - how does that work? Can I just update using that code at anytime? Do you know if data rates apply (as I dont have a data plan)? Is there a place to find out if there is new software available, or should I just randomly try and update once a month or so?

Thanks,
Dan

Re: Helpful Verizon Codes

If you use Verizon, at the beginning of the call you will be told "This call is airtime free." In other words, there are no charges associated with using that code. As for how often you should update, the official word is to do it every three months.

Another cool code for calling other Verizon subscribers, press the * key to bypass their voice mail message to go directly to the tone and leave message.

Shouldn't the customers money be honored?

I don't use all the minutes I pay to use. They do not honor "rollover." Does anyone else agree or think they should give credit for minutes not used? I mean they charge a lot for any additional minutes used. I don't live on my phone 24/7, so I think they should credit me for minutes not used if they r going to bill me for overage.

That's not how a contract service agreement works. You agree to pay a set amount of dollars per month, VZW agrees to give you a set amount of minutes per month for the dollars you pay. If you go over, you pay, under, your loss.

You can have what you want--if you want to pay only for what you use, get a prepaid phone.

I did the pre-paid thing and Cingular charges $1.00 a dayand.$0.10 per minute for use, so ievery two weeks I had to buy another $30.00 card, the contract was cheaper by those standards, but if I don't use minutes they should credit my contract for saving their network. Do u work for them? That is their contract, let me add my own contract into their contract?

You say it's THEIR contract. Once you agree to it it's YOUR contract too. Without you AND them, there is not contract--you have to have two parties. You can always try to negotiate with them--let us know how you do with that.

No, I don't work for a wirless carrier. Cingular/AT&T has rollover minutes, why didn't you stay with them?

Was I not clear, $60.00 /mnth, for calls I rarely made. Like I said, I do not live on the phone and their rollover does not apply to prepaid. They will not negotiate, I've brought this up to their agents, and they think since I am the only one that wants a different "deal," I am in the wrong.
It's my contract if they let me agree with them, but I have to sign it to use their phone. It would be our contract if they would not make me sign a standard contract.

There are cheaper plans. If 450 minutes is enough, you can get that for $40 per month...

I was being facetious, sorry.

Clearly we're on two different planes with this--but that's OK.
Hope you can find a plan to suit you.
