Re: Bluetooth Car Kit

think you're right about being stuck, at least for now. I've commented on bluetooth elsewhere:

Bluetooth

my system was built into my car, so i haven't looked into 3rd party systems. would be interesting to track down some good reviews, maybe through magazines.

Re: Bluetooth Car Kit

I wasn't looking for anything too high end, but I don't like any of the stuff that goes in or on your ear.

I ended up finding a unit for about $60. It's called the VR3, and is made by Virtual Reality/Roadmaster. It clips right on your car's visor and works with any bluetooth phones. Comes with blue LCD that flips down & displays the telephone number of incoming calls. Also has a call log and other cool little features.

Like I said, I don't like any ear-type bluetooth devices; and even though my phone has a good external speaker built in, it's still not hands free if I have to hold it while I'm talking/driving.

The VR3 works perfectly for what I need it for and so far, so good, as far as no complaints from the other person I'm talking to.

OK, so I checked out your VR3 and it seems pretty slick to me. So, why don't you go ahead and buy it???

Re: Bluetooth Car Kit

LOL! I did and I've had it for about a week or so, it works great.
I read somewhere that it adapts to your cel phone's ringtones so that's my next project, figuring that out. Right now, it has a cheesy Twilight Zone ringtone, which doesn't bother me that much.

All in all, it's a great, affordable unit that definitely serves its purpose! I would highly recommend this product.

Re: Bluetooth Car Kit

It's nothing fancy, but it does serve it's purpose.

Like I said earlier, I'm not into the whole ear thing but this thing works great.

You don't have to touch your phone at all while you're driving.

Re: Bluetooth Car Kit

That sounds like a good option too ... I just got a BlueAnt Supertooth Light from gammoth.com. They are like the speakerphone that clips on to your visor and it works great ... no complaints so far, but the VR3 sounds interesting too.

Re: Bluetooth Car Kit

Got the Vr3 and set up in less than 5 minutes, works great!
A bit larger than I expected, but well worth it.

Re: Bluetooth Car Kit

Yup. I usually put it to the left of the visor, instead of directly in front of my line of sight. The flashing blue led is actually kind of nice at night and the other thing that's cool is if you're cranking your stereo, the full screen lights up nice when a call comes in.

How bout that cheesy Twilight Zone ringtone it's got with it?

It's nice to be totally hands free AND ear free as well, ya think?

Re: Bluetooth Car Kit

I like 2 car kits.

1. Is the Parrot CK3100 LCD Bluetooth Handsfree Car Kit
This is a hard install kit that is great quality for a good price.

2. Motorola T505 Bluetooth Speakerphone
This is a visor mount clip on. Great quality and it has a FM transmitter so it can go through your existing car stereo speakers.

The site Godoodads.com has real good prices on them. I bought one for my wife and one for myself.
