compared to the problems I've had with Nokia over the past two years,
my Sony works wonderfully! Great reception, decent battery life, easy
to use. My only complaint is that the loudest ring setting is still
not quite loud enough for my partially deaf ears.

I have had both nokia 3590 and sony ericsson T306. The sony had better
signal( both were on AT&T GSM network in new jersey which is BAD). more
feature for the same price. but the nokia rigner was much louder.

Working in a service center for a cellular company that carries both SONY &
Nokia phones. Of the percentage of Nokia phones sold that we get back for
service is aprox 15-20%

As for Sony, more like 40-50% it was so bad with the sony phones that they
discontinued selling new handsets & only offer whats left of the Fact.
Refurb. at a discount just to get rid of them.

The most common complaints w/ the sony phones is the phone book deleting
itself, they keypad malfunctioning & the charge port becoming loose & no
longer being able to charge.

With the Nokia the most common defect was the ringers no longer working.
Vibration still did but the ringer didn't.

Having owned 2 different Nokias I know they will take much abuse (i am
REALLY clumsy) before they crap out on you. I have even heard stories where
the phone got wet & continued to work shortly after.

The phone books deleting themselves is a big problem I had it happen
with 2 different ericssons and 1 sony ericsson. now as far as abuse well
one ericsson I dropped in a puddle on christmas day. I found it frozen
over the next day. 3 days later the phone was working the the display
was never 100% but other that that it worked great. Now my nokia also
took a beating. I move furniture part time so any phone I have gets
dropped and bumped a lot. But the lost phone book thing i have heard
every ericsson model has a problem with that. Now I copy mine onto my
sim card. thank got for sim cards

*checks the subject of the thread* hmmm, didnt see anything about
Religious Cellular....

Consumer reports rated them as the best of the best. The only ones to
get FIVE STAR rating. The quality of service you get is from your
service provider. Unfortunately I have a 5-Star phone but a 3-Star
provider. Guess that gives me 4 star service or maybe only the weakest
link @ 3 Star. Whatever...... it works everywhere we have gone, even
to the islands. My only complaint is I can't get extended length
batteries for them.

I still liked the old analog phones better. Much better connectivity
and less drops. They went digital to allow more bandwidth so they
could sell more service NOT to make our calls clearer. There are
places inside buildings that the analog worked fine but the digital
gets NO bars.
