VX4400 ringtone volume

Is it just me or is the ringtone volume very low? (set at the hgihest
level). I miss a lot of calls as result. I've only used Motorolas
before, startac and V60, and the volume was definitely a lot higher.
I'm referring to the ringtones that come with the phone. I've tried
ringtones with GIN and a disk I bought from ebay, and they're even
worse. Does anyone know of a loud ringtone? Or should I take my
phone in to VZW for them to look at?

My wife and I have the VX10 which are similar. On ours, the ring volume is
OK when the cases are closed. But when they're open, the ring is very quiet.

Re: VX4400 ringtone volume

That is the main reason I returned my 4400 and bought a V60s. I could
not hear the 4400 if it was under a coat or in a noisy environment. The
V60s is plenty loud.

Maybe you need to play with the settings? My vx4400 has the loudest ringtone
I have ever heard from a cellphone. The vx4400 has an outside speaker which
helps even more. The only tones I couldn't hear when I got the phone were
voicemail and SMS. The defaults are just a feeble beep. I changed them to
another tone to solve that.

I don't understand why some say the 4400's ringtones are too low. On
MEDIUM, on my phone, the darn thing can almost wake up the neighbors!
I haven't yet set it on HIGH...I'm afraid it'll blow out the speaker.

If mine had been like that, I'd have kept it.

It's just you . The ringbones on the 4400 are well known to be about the
loudest on the market. Something is wrong. I'm not sure what though. I
leave my 4400 set on the lowest volume ringtone, and it is still three or
four times louder than the VX1 that I also have.

Maybe it's a different story for different production runs of the
4400. Like you, my 4400 ringtones are very, very loud. If I put it
at full volume, it's not only distorted, it's enough to blow me out of
my chair if I'm not paying attention!

On a regular basis, I never, ever set my ringtones higher than
MEDIUM...

Re: VX4400 ringtone volume

I have a brand new 4400B and it is extremely loud! I was able to hear it
ringing in my ski jacket pocket while skiing down Mt Hood this last weekend!

If you cover the external speaker it is much quieter. I don't suppose some
people have covers over the speaker or stuff plugging the hole?

Re: VX4400 ringtone volume

It is not just him!

I have a VX4400 - Frimware v5 and a VX4400b - Firmware v10

Both of them have very soft ring tones (all of them). I have to keep the
phone on vibe or I miss every call... I guess there is a bug in the phone or
something. I love the phone, but the ring volume sucks!

My 4400 and 4400B are both very loud - I use both the ringers and earpiece
volumes at Med and it's plenty loud. The only time I had a problem with
volume was a ringer I paid for via GIN. It was soft compared to the rest. If
I set it on m.high or high for that ringer, the others were WAY TOO loud.

Scotch tape works. Custom ringtone also works.

Have to agree. My problem is that Low is too loud where I work (school
library). It's adequate in my coat pocket in the car with the heater
blasting and both commercial and ham radios chattering.

(However, I loaded in a midi I found on the web and couldn't hear it on
high.)

Re: VX4400 ringtone volume

I've noticed some of the midi tones I've downloaded are low.. I don't think
there is anything we can do.. It's that the recording is made low. I'd like to
see the answer to that also, if anyone has any other idesa==as
