Spam

Did anyone get spammed (by text message)last evening from b@bb.com,
something about Ephedra?

Is there any way to block future spam?

Thanks in advance,
Ray

Re: Spam

I did as well.

I am not sure. Sucks as I didn't have access to the headers to find out
where it really came from. :-(
I wish the providers would give me a way to setup via website an allow list
as to who can send me e-mail and who I can screen out in a block list.

Under Messaging Settings & Preferences on sprintpcs.com you can add them to your SMS Blocking list. Enter a 4-19 digit phone number, an email address, or an entire domain like smsblocking.com.

Re: Spam

Yeah but, we should have the option to "block all, except" certain
numbers/e-mails, also as an option on the website.
You see what I mean?
That domain bb.com was 'Bull' anyway so, current SMS blocking really doesn't
do us much good in this circumstance, as spammers spoof domains all the
time.

I never get spam TMs, but I get a ton of spams to my sprintpcs.com email
addy. I hope that one day, SPCS adds a spam filter to their email server
like all the other major ISPs have.

Re: Spam

I am kinda so-so about spam filters that I have no control over, as what if
my network monitoring system sends me a 'page' and the spam system just got
upgraded with a new signature and mistakenly senses my monitoring server as
a 'spamming' source?

I mostly use my e-mail addresses for me to get "hey dude, something is down
and here's what it is and why" kinda messages.
So, if a "whitelist" got implemented via sprint's website account manager, I
would be happy.
Plus, stuff stills gets through filters unless it's made so ridged that's
you start missing messages.

See what I mean?

I get anywhere from 5 to 10 or more messages daily from a site that
always ends in upoc.com---I called sprint once, and they first told me
they could block, then then changed to we will contact you--have never
heard anymore from them---at least the messages forced me how to learn
to delete all messages.

We do. Sign on to www.sprintpcs.com

Under "My online tools", click on "Text Messaging", and then on=20
"Settings & Preferences" on the left. At the bottom of the page is a=20
place where you can add addresses to a blicked list. Or just=20
domains.

That's not perfect, but it *is* there.

Sprint is trying very hard to get rid of incoming spam, but with the
increasing number of people using their Sprint PCS email as a contact,
it's getting sold out to other companies for them to use. Once you
have one, it's only a matter of guessing that they can easily get
others.

Re: Spam

I don't think it is being sold out by Sprint, I think it is being "guessed"
by spammers.

Re: Spam

I called *2 this morning after I got my second Text Message spam
in two days and my Wife also got one. The guy said that they had just
gotten an internal memo that the loophole had just been plugged and he
checked my bill and those TMs were not charged against my fifty.
I was on the phone with him talking about several things and
finished the call after 43 minutes.
I also got my N & W moved to 2000 for no extra charge and no new
contract. We shall see what the web site says the day after the start
of my next billing cycle.
