A second SIMM card for GSM

I have 2 GSM cell phones that I use. If I go to my local cellular provider
store and get a second SIMM card, will both SIMM Cards be useable as long
as I obviously ONLY use one phone at a time?

Or, when they replace the SIMM Card, does it somehow inactivate the old SIMM
card?

Thank you.

You don't say in which country you are located. I assume you want two SIM
cards with the same number, if so there are relatively few networks that
offer this, but here in the UK Vodafone do, but you lose a lot of
functionality and only one phone can receive calls at any one time,
although both can make calls.

Apart from systems like this, the general answer is no - the SIM card is
essentially the number, and hence your account. You cannot have two with
the same number. Also, with some (probably most) networks, the SIM card is
already pre-programmed with the number anyway.

Getting a replacement is just that, replacing the old SIM card.

It will be deactivated for security purposes.

You can clone the SIM and use a emulador (example SIMEMU).
Witrh this emulator you can put 10 numbers in one SIM.

Re: A second SIMM card for GSM

I asked this a while back. I wish it were so. It would be nice, if one has
two or more phones, to be able to switch between them at will, without
having to switch the SIM card back and forth.

Yes, you can get another SIM card (at a T-MObile store), but when you get it
activated (by calling TM Customer Support), that will deactivate the other
card. You can only haven one card activated at a time per phone line.

Re: A second SIMM card for GSM

I don't get your point. Why would one want to put 10 numbers on one SIM
card, if one only has one cell phone number? The question was the
opposite--to have two SIM cards activated with the same (one) number.
Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be possible.

Not in the US. A couple of European providers offer this option.

Re: A second SIMM card for GSM

In Italy TIM gives you 2 SIM with same number. You can switch easy
each one from master to slave and back (only if you are in Italy,
abroad they remain as you left last time in Italy).
Both can call. Master receives first, slave receives only if master is
closed. It is a little complicated to set up the Message box but it
works on both. Some time ago it was even possible to call one Sim
from the other... later TIM removed this possibility. I do not know
how Vodafone works here in Italy but sure they offer 2 Sim with same
number
