I really couldn't tell you... it's not that hard to try tho...although it would be a waste to buy a cable that you don't know what to do with.

Tri-mode is a reception thing. It means it can go analog as well as digital, which means you'll get reception in areas where theres no digital yet (like middle-of-nowhere kind of places).

Cellboy, just so i know we're both on the same page here, the LG VX6000, using the steps you laid out at the beginning of this post, can play full quality mp3's as ringtones. Complete with vocals (if the track has them), multiple instruments, etc.

Also also, do i need to make sure i get the usb to usb cord, or will the usb to serial cord work as well? (already ordered the usb to serial, for cheap from ebay, so that would be good news...)

Yes, it play's mp3 at a good quality -- Yes, you can use the usb to serial cord you've ordered -- But, the VX6000 is a digital only phone. I don't get analog service. Just letting you know.

i know, and i'm sorta po'ed that LG wouldnt include analog roaming in their damn phone. but frankly, and this is the true nerd in me speaking, i'd rather be able to create my own mp3 ringtones, then be able to speak out of digital areas.

well the lx5550 has tri mode but i dont know anything about putting mp3's on that phone --- but my friend DOES say you can put a whole cd on it... and the speaker phone on it is pretty tight.

I am on a Mac, but using my own methods created a file that SHOULD work. BitPim uploads it, but it is silent when you try to listen to it on the phone.

The file is an MP3 at 32kbps 16khz mono with the extension of .mid The file size is on 20k - anyone tell me what I am missing?

All I do is crop my mp3, rename to mid and bitpim it to my phone.

maybe the memory on your phone is full, or the songs ur putting on are too big

Can the ringtone be sent to the phone using just the program that came with the Cable.

I am also having a problem using Bitpim. When I try to transfer ringtones to my phone it gives me a message that an error occured how do I fix this.
