Unlimited Text Messaging?

Anyone know if Cingular is planning on competing with Verizon's "unlimited" in-text plans??? I know it's wishful thinking with how money hungry Cingular is but who knows, they could surprise....

seems like cingular makes a good profit from text messaging (probably mostly from unsuspecting customers who thought text messaging was free). i doubt they are going to offer it.

As of right now there are no plans...Verizon's unlimited texting plan is what it is. Verizon and Cingular both have their own advantages, it's not about Cingular being more money hungry.

how could it not be money hungry? they offer unlimited mobile to mobile calls, and from what i understand, a text message is just like a one minute phone call. so why should they charge you an adt'l charge for texts? why should you need another service charge on top of the one you're paying monthly???

Why should I pay a monthly service fee, why not just provide me with free service? Is it not enough that the consumer already can get a free phone, free N/W, Free M2M, No Roaming? And now they should just throw in free text messaging. I'm sorry I guess I just forgot that Cingular has not expenses whatsoever. Those cell towers are free to put up, Customer Service Reps volunteer their time, there's no cost in research and development. (Sarcasm, in case you didnt notice)

Again Verizon is what it is. If you want to accuse Cingular of being money hungry, you should know Verizon charges for things Cingular does not. For example Verizon charges a convenience fee for paying your bill in store, Cingular does not, Verizon charges roaming if you go out of the "In Network" Calling area, Cingular has allows you to roam at no charge in the USA on Nation Plans.

Again there are things Cingular charges for that Verizon may not, and vice versa. Both companies have the right to charge whatever fees they want, if we don't like it we can switch to antoher carrier and pay fees in a different manner. They are businesses, that's how they operate.

umm, actually most of the services besides cingular offers mobile to mobile calling...

do you own stock in cingular or something? am i saying "cingular should offer free cell phone service to all it's customers"??? nope.
i think rollover is a good deal. i think it's cool that i get M2M minutes. I think N&W minutes are cool too. BUT... that's not what i'm talking about.
they have the worst text plans available. Nextel, Sprint, and now Verizon all offer unlimited text plans of some sort. and, like i said, all a text is is a 1min phone call. so if they offer M2M, why is a text different for them? why did they get rid of free incoming texts like AT&T had?
and all i asked anyway is are they going to offer an unlimited plan?

That's your personal opinion about Cingular offering the worst text plans out of all the carriers. Some may disagree.

I don't know where you heard a text is just like a one minute phone call, I've never heard that before. For all I know it may be true, I wouldn't know as I don't work for Cingular's Tech. Dept. But that's neither here nor there and has nothing to do with this conversation.

I don't recall Cingular ever having unlimited incoming texts. As for whether or not Cingular plans to offer an unlimited plan, I don't know. If they are planning on it, they haven't told me about it.
