I hope this message doesn't drag on. I have three phones on a Verizon
plan. I have the Family Share plan. So, my wife and I went to go pick
up my dad so we could go upgrade our phones. I decided to go to the
Thousand Oaks store instead of the Woodland Hills store because I have
had good experiences in the past with that store. After we looked
around for a while deciding which phones to purchase (my wife and I each
decided on the LG 8100, while my dad decided on the LG 6100) we got a
sales rep. He punched my phone number in and was reviewing my account.
Now, my number is the primary, so I would be eligible for the $100 new
every two deal, while the other two were just eligible for the 2 year
price on the phone. He noticed that my upgrade date for the new every
two was on 12/9/05. And, because of that I was not going to be able to
get the additional $100 off. I was pretty taken back by that. I said
it was only 6 days away. He said there was nothing he could do. He was
not able to change the date, and I would have to come back on the 9th to
get my $100 deal. He did not even offer to get the manager during this
time. I asked to speak to a manager. One finally came out, and he gave
me the same song and dance. He was not able to change to date or do
anything because it was "the policy" and because he was afraid of
getting in trouble. "Raising a red flag" as he put it. So, I decided
to leave. I was pretty upset over the whole thing.
I decided to call customer service and see what they could do for me.
After speaking with a supervisor and explaining my story, I was going to
purchase three new phones, sign up for 2 more years on all three
numbers, and buy a bunch of accessories, he went to his supervisor to
see what he could do. After a little while on hold, which I did not
mind, because at least he was willing to try and help me out, I was
allowed to use my $100 credit that day. I was already on my way to the
Woodland Hills store (because there was no way I was going to spend any
money in the Thousand Oaks store). I thanked the supervisor on the phone
numerous times for the service he offered me. The supervisor did share
some interesting news with me. The supervisor from the Thousand Oaks
store put a little note on my account. It pretty much said that my
upgrade date was 12/9/05 and no store or customer service rep should
override it. As you can imagine I was pretty pissed off that a store
supervisor would actually go that length and put a note on my account.
So, I went into the Woodland Hills. After a few minutes a sales rep was
available. One heck of a nice guy. I told him what I wanted to do and
what I wanted to purchase. He reviewed my account, and I wanted to make
sure I was getting the $100 credit. He said you sure are. After about
an hour of moving my old numbers over to the new phones, getting the
accessores, and activating the phones, I was on my way. The service I
received from this sales rep was above and beyond anything I could have
imagined. He made sure that each phone and person who would use that
phone new the features and functions of the phone. He answered all of
my questions. I had a great experience in the Woodland Hills compared
to the Thousand Oaks store. I will never shop in the TO store again.
I have been a customer of Verizon's since before it was Airtouch. I
forgot the name it was back then, Pac Bell Cellular or something like
that. I have not really had any issues with them. I figure any of the
issues I have, I would probably have with any other carrier. I am not
planning on leaving Verizon, but after my experience in Thousand Oaks, I
was leaning that way. But, after the phone customer service rep and the
nice people in Woodland Hills, I will stick with Verizon for a while.
And, since I have just signed up for 2 additional years.
I would like to send a couple of letters. I am going to send a big
thank you letter to the Woodland Hills Manager for the service his sales
rep offered me. But, I want to send a pretty negative letter to Verizon
about their Thousand Oaks store. Does anybody have an address or
addresses I could get for the negative letter?
Thanks for listening.
