Samsung a900 Bluetooth problem

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing phantom phone calls? I have gone through 4 different headsets, 2 motorola, a jabra, and a plantronics headset. Each headset same problem, phantom calls. I'm certain the problem is with the phone. I have all the current software and firmware updates. When I contacted sprint they told me they knew of no such problem. Any suggestions ?

Gents,
Nice to hear that someone else is experiencing this problem. I've been on the phone with Samsung, Motorola, and Sprint PCS for two weeks. I also have a thread on this forum addressing this issue. My problem (and my company's problem) is with car kits. I tried two Motorola Bluetooth car kits and now a Samsung HKT100BDE car kit ("guaranteed" to be compatible)...NOT! We have a fleet of vehicles and bought at least 24 of these phones. The phantom ringing is rampant. I just got off the phone (again) with a level 2 tech at Samsung and they finally admitted that there is a problem with the phone! This is a first. The tech said they are working on a software upgrade to resolve the issue. We can only hope. I would spread the word to avoid the A900 if Bluetooth capability is desired. I am not convinced that Samsung will figure this out.

This has been driving me crazy. I have not yet had either company to admit there is a problem. I have noticed that when my coverage changes is when it seems to happen. When I start to roam it will ring. I will have to disable the connection then when I am back in a sprint coverage area it will ring again. I was actually able to trigger it myself by going into the options menu under roaming. Then setting the mode to roaming then back to automatic and it would cause my headset to ring evey time. Im pretty certain this is the cause.

That's interesting. I don't use a headset but I haven't left the area so raoming isn't an issue. Where I am I thought it was radio interference or incompatibility with the Motorola Car kit. Bluetooth is supposed to compatible. Samsung said they "guaranteed" the Samsung Carkit would be compatible. It was $200 and has the same problem as the Motorola....and, get this, the waranty says that if you open the box (original packaging), you can't return it! Nice guarantee. Anyway, I called Samsung for the 12th time and went through the whole tech rep drill. The guy finally admitted that they have a phone problem they are working on. That's just fine but they could have said that the first time. Sprint PCS could have told us when our company purchased these phones and Bluetooth should not have certified the A900 as "compatible". I would tell everyone to avoid Samsung products and probably Sprint PCs as Well. They have no credibility with me and both are lacking professional ethics.

I did a software update on my phone earlier this evening. First time its updated in awhile. I think they may have finally fixed the problem. I had someone from sprint call me about a week ago. They told me there was a problem and they were working on it. They also told me it was the phone switching to the various signals, which would then send an alert to the headset that was causing the ringing. I started to notice I had certain spots that would trigger the ringing. So anyway, after I downloaded the new update I took a nice long drive. This time no ringing what so ever. Except of course only when I got a real phone call. I think they finally did it. Nevertheless I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

Me too. The ZB12 update fixed the phantom ringing with the Samsung car kit I have. I checked with a colleague using the Motorola IHF1000 car kit and he has no problems either. The Spint.PCS forum has a lot of entries and many people are experiencing other problems with the update. Not sure what their issues are with White Screen Of Death (WSOD)...but I don't have a problem.

Re: Samsung a900 Bluetooth problem

Yeah, this is really starting to piss me off as well. My A900 recently has decided to just shut off for no reason what so ever. On top of that problem, I have used several bluetooth sets, the latest one is the Plantronice, and it works for a while, then not. I try and pair it, and the signal is not picked up. When it was sorking, once you hung up, you had to press the "end" key on the phone to disconnect. Please let me know if anyone has had the same issues, or if you can suggest a replacement bluettoth that works, it would be greatly appreciated. Finally, if anyone has any suggestions on a replacement phone for "Sprint", let me know.

Thanx.

Re: Samsung a900 Bluetooth problem

My husband just called from the airport on his A900 and asked me (I'm supposed to know everything about cell phones!) why he was suddenly getting messages to "pair" with someone. "Would you like to pair with James?" "Would you like to pair with Michael?" Go ahead, laugh. We did. These are coming in as if he is trying to pair a bluetooth headset with the handset. (Bluetooth headsets with proper names!) I made sure that bluetooth was not enabled on his phone and his headset was turned off. Then I came here to search the threads.

This has been a great phone for him for almost 2 years. The only reason he hasn't replaced it is he's waiting for the Instinct.

Anyone else experiencing this? I have to believe it's related to the phantom ringing issue. Thoughts? Advice?
