Sorry, T-Mobile uses
GSM technology and Alltel is
CDMA, the phones for these two different networks aren't compatible with each other. In fact, with Alltel and other
CDMA providers, there is no
SIM card and the phone has to be activated by Alltel using its electronic serial number (
ESN), who will not under any circumstances activate a non-Alltel phone. The
CDMA providers maintain a list of ESNs that are clear for activation and they won't activate a phone that wasn't sold for their network.

Either way, the Sidekick is a T-Mobile exclusive and the data features will not work on other
GSM networks, so all you'd have is a big, clunky phone with no text or internet capabilities.
HINT: There are a few smaller providers scattered around the country that sell HipTops which are basically a Sidekick with a different name... one of them, SunCom, told me over the phone they would *probably* be able to reprovision a sidekick to work on their network, since it's identical to the Sidekick (not a definite answer, they told me to bring it in to their store for a tech to look at). Check around, see if you can find a local provider with a HipTop!
