Help With Picking A New Phone

I'm looking for a phone from alltel. I would like a phone I could use as a modem for my laptop via bluetooth. The primary use of the phone would be talking and txt messaging. I would like it to be a bit more, durable and less bulky than my previous phone, a Nokia 6255i, I would prefer it to be mid-range. Depending on what goes down when I bring my phone to the local alltel store, if I have to wait til december when the contract runs out i might go for a bit more high-end phone. I have looked at the alltel website and around at reviews and thought it might be worth the time to post on here for recommendations from people that use alltel. So far I've seen that the LG AX8600 would be the phone for me but I have read as many neg reviews about battery life as I have reviews that were good. Thanks in advance,
~Azur3

Re: Help With Picking A New Phone

Hi! I have the blue lg ax 8600. This is a small phone so if you are concerned with battery life....Small phones are not the best choice. I found that simply making a few adjustments to my phone settings it does improve the battery life. Such as volumes, brightness etc. If your only setback for this phone is the battery life (or any phone for that matter).....you really should consider getting a much bigger phone. I have no complaints about this phone whatsoever & would recommend this phone to anyone

This is a great little phone but I do not it would be able to work for you as a modem via bluetooth. From reading other posts this is not possible on this phone. I would check further before planning on using the 8600 for this purpose. The battery life does seem to be hit and miss with users but I don't think that would be the problem for your needs.

Re: Help With Picking A New Phone

I'm not a fan of LG phones myself. Never really cared for the interface. Motorola was my prefered choice for phones. I'm currently using the Moto Rokr. I use it primarily for texting and as a modem for internet on my computer. I've yet to have any problems. And linking it to a computer via Bluetooth works great and seems easy. Hope this helps.
