To make this worse, when I call customer service, the people that had
zero clue what I was talking about. The person I spoke with put me on
hold and then come back and said that there was already 3G coverage in
Denver. I later confirmed that was untrue.

They stated in their earnings call today that they will have 3G coverage
in the "top 100 markets" this year. Whether that means in a month, or on
December 31st, who knows? The other question is whether or not you're in
one of the top 100 markets.

"AT&T says it now has UMTS/HSDPA coverage in 165 cities and is on
schedule to cover virtually all of the top 100 US markets this year"

As you've figured out, "cities" is not the same as "markets" and it's
not clear how many markets they currently cover with those 165 cities.

Check on Sprint high speed data coverage, as they have more coverage
than any other carrier, with Verizon a close second.

In fact, Wimax is _by far_ the most efficient wireless technology. The
problem that Cingular, Verizon, and Sprint face with their HSDPA and
EVDO networks is that they can't emulate the DSL scenario of dropping
the price to greatly increase the market penetration due to the high
bandwidth requirements of HSDPA and EVDO. WiMax is a way around this
    problem.

Actually I'm pretty sure that Navas understands the appeal of WiMax,
he's just upset that Cingular isn't deploying it.

I would prefer to have cingular have it, but for two reason's they don't,
sprint gave me a 23% discount on the monthly fee, they had a usb adaptor
which allows me to use it on several computers no matter what adaptor slot
they have, and they have OSX drivers. So for under $50 with taxes, I am
getting decent service. They adator cost me $65 or so bux and I'm getting a
    $50 rebate.

Even if I decide being with sprint isn't for me and cingular deploys it's
hsdpa around by me and in other areas I goto frequently, it's cheaper or
about the same for me to keep them for a year or so, and just pay the $200
termination fee, and go with cingular who is going to charbe m $60 plus
    taxes.

In fact WiMAX is no more efficient than other comparable wireless
technologies, and mobile WiMAX is still vaporware.

I actually couldn't care less, and unlike you, I don't spend my time
    trolling.
