I was in New York City a few weeks back, and nearly every Electronics
store (dozens of them) in Manhattan had on display iPhones in the
Window for sale, with "UNLOCKED" stickers on the display boxes.

Israel doesn't need a cheaper iPhone. The American Taxpayer is sending
over $500/Israeli, every man, woman and child, to Israel every year so
they can build the weaponry to sell to the Chinese, notably the Tadiran
version of the AWACS command and control system.

I'm sure if AIPAC wants, the American taxpayers will be buying every
Israeli a new Iphone every year for as long as it's produced. All they
have to do is call their cronies in Congress and it will happen.

.....and WE will be paying for it.....

They all had them, alright, but no one was buying at the $700 they were
asking on average... Those midtown electronics stores exist to con
international tourists who think they're getting a deal because the stuff
is cheaper than the stuff in their home countries.

I having no way of know whether they were in fact unlocked, and if so,
    by software or hardware means.

They did seem to be unlocked- the guy at the counter was doing his darndest
to sell one and popped the potential customer's SIM in the iPhone as part
    of the presentation...

Of course if that customer ever uses iTunes, and has such an unlocked
    iPhone upgraded to 2.0 Firmware,
they're then likely to own a Brick.

As opposed to the US selling AWACS to Saudi Arabia (you know...the
place where the 9/11 hijackers came from) or arms to Iran or to the
    mujahadeen in Afghanistan

You're not so stupid and brainwashed that you STILL think Arabs, any Arabs,
had anything to do with THREE, not two, steel reinforced buildings designed
to take direct hits from large airliners....FELL STRAIGHT DOWN AT FREEFALL
SPEED INTO THEIR OWN FOOTPRINT with out the Thermate that made the basement
over 6000F for WEEKS after the "event" melting through steel columns there
are REAL pictures of after being cut at the same 45 degree angle as any
    other controlled demolition, do you?

I agree. The iPhone is probably the only device for you.....
