    iPhones Are Gone

As you might expect, Apple Stores in many major urban centers, like
New York City, have sold out of the device by Saturday, though
    scattered availability remains.

Of course, Apple has posted a webpage where prospective buyers can
track iPhone availability, which will be updated after 9pm this
    evening.

The White 16 GB was the slowest seller and the last to go.

    IMHO black iPhone looks sharp.

See More: AT&T's 2,000-plus retail locations were mostly sold out by SaturdayMorning

I was at an Apple store to see the "Genius" about a problem with my
laptop today (which they fixed, the service was great) and saw both the
black and white iPhones. I thought the white iPhone looked sharper.
Some say the white is a feminine color but I think I will get white
anyway. They were all out of stock so I had an excuse for not buying
    one right then :-)

yes, the link won't update until 9pm PT time... then it's unavailable
until the following day at 9pm PT.

why Apple doesn't have more "real time" info is poor on their side.

it's 9pm *local* time. if you live on the west coast and it's after
6pm pdt, set your clock ahead 3 hours and it will display the
    availability.

too much overhead for very little benefit.
