While I absolutely applaud that level of support, I kind of miss the days
of non-rewritable ROMs when manufacturers actually had to get everything
working right the first time.
Between my satellite TV receivers, my cellphones, my digital cameras, etc.,
I feel like an eternal beta tester waiting for the next bugfix!

I'll be interesting to see how those go over. With years of PDA use under
my belt, I find myself absent-mindingly touching the screen of my 7" ASUS
EEE expecting a response, but not my full sized laptops- that seems
unnatural.

Well I received several phone calls yesterday from a mate in Frey's
all excited about the HP TouchScreen PC. I told him that according to
Amazon.com it was the seventh most popular product in several PC
categories. The Mac I believe was in the top six in Amazon sales.
Things I had to tell him were it was Vista 64 bit and the screen was
not a multi touch device like the iPhone, Both of these should have
been deal beakers but he still loved what he saw and I think he bought
one. I tied to get across to him all he has to do is wait until Oct
14, 2008 and he can have the best of both worlds. He can always take
back that HP product if he doesn't mess it up by then.
