    And it's $800 US for the 16GB version. Still, if you want an iPhone to
    use mainly the WiFi, on T-Mobile or on prepaid, you now have an option.
    Add about $1000 for a r/t ticket.

    I'm in Hong Kong right now so I can save the price of the ticket, but
    I still can't quite bring myself to pay $800 for the phone. Maybe next
    year...

    I did a traceroute to your IP.

    Is the economy trashed there, too?

    Not quite yet, outside of the stock market, but I think that might
    be just a lag spreading to here rather than any sort of immunity. We
    do know where a lot of the money which was borrowed to fund all those
    currently-valueless CDOs came from.

    A little recession here might be okay if it reduced the crowds
    a bit in the many fine restaurants they have here, though.

    Thanks. I've been many places on the planet but that isn't one of them.
    Most of my travels have been to the Middle East....Iran, Bahrain, Qatar,
    UAE. It's unfortunate I'll never be able to return, especially Iran.
    Fascinating country and simply HUGE! I got to fly with the Iranian Air
    Force. We were in the electronic snooping business (SIGINT/ELINT) under
    the Shahanshah in the 70's, leaving 28 days before he did.

    The Army boys even let me drive one of their huge Russian tanks...(c;

    Too bad Israel makes everyone hate us now....

    I'd love to spend a month touring the canals of rural England in a
    diesel longboat before I die....(c;

    ===================================================================

    I was at the City Marina in Downtown Charleston, today. Even at the
    highest priced gas pumps in the state, they were selling regular gas for
    $2.99/gallon, now! The revaluation of the fake dollars is quite
    uncanny!

    I hope you're enjoying a little more value to your Federal Reserve
    private bank banknotes, too, over there.

    Have a safe journey....
    Larry

    All the prices should start to crash very soon....including iPhones if
    you want one. "Patience, my son, Patience!"
    A brand new Cadillac/La Salle during the last depression was $1295 in
    1938...a really huge car. Gas was 12c/gallon to feed it, too.
    Those that kept their money, themselves, did very well, indeed.

    Sorry to disappoint you Larry, but it's in the heart of a business and
    hotel district. I used to work for a company with its HK offices in
    Miramar Tower, which is a couple of minute walk from that restaurant. My
    colleagues knew all the good and relatively inexpensive restaurants in
    that area. I thought it was pretty funny that the English name is
    "Gatorfan" since I am a Gator fan.

    But they pay a lot for that privilege. Actually, iPhone sales have never
    really taken off in Asia. People prefer more fully-featured smart phones
    even though those phones that aren't as slick as the iPhone.
