a firewire cable and superduper is 4-6 times faster than a Tornado, and
it's basically free.

Well, *if* a firewire connector would be present. That is a *very* big
"if" on apple machines

So the missing FW port on my sons MacBook is just a figment of
imagination, right?
The missing FW port on a *lot* of apple machines (especially the newer
ones) is just on the other side, where I didn't look?
Sorry, guy, you have just proven once again that apple fanboiz are the

imac dv was actually late 1999, and the entry level models didn't have
it. however, all imacs since 2000 had firewire.

also, the powerbook g3 (pismo) and every powerbook g4, ibook, powermac
g3, powermac g4, powermac g5, imac g4, imac g5, intel imac.
firewire 800 has been on several models since the mid-2000s or so and
is now standard on all macs with firewire.
the *only* macs that don't have firewire are the macbook air (jan 2008)
and the entry level macbook since late 2009.

And of those two models, the lack of FW only appeared in but one (1)
design update on the MacBook out of the ten (10) that it has undergone
since 2006. This was the one-off 13" unibody MacBook - - which was
available in parallel to the 13" white MacBook, which retained
Firewire.

Sorry, but it is worse than that: once again, Peter could have tried
to have done some trivial research before making his accusation, but
clearly chose not to. As such, Peter is what he accuses others to
be: "...the worst lying filth imaginable."
And Peter knows this, which is why he trimmed newsgroups again, so
that his deception wouldn't be broadcast as clearly into his home
Linux group (COLA), plus the other group which had been on this iPad
thread, <alt.cellular.attws>. Since the last clearly has zero to do
with this subthread, it is trimmed in the follow-ups.

Only the MacBook (non-pro) and MacBook Air don't have firewire, the
mini, imac, MacBook Pro and tower all have firewire, so I guess IF isn't
a good description.

yes, most mac users already have a firewire cable, superduper is free
for backups.

99% of Macs in use have firewire, so thanks for the laugh peter...

no, it's less than 5% of new machines, and far less than 1% of all
machines... so please learn to post facts before you post to usenet.

These numbers, coming from you, have to be at least multiplied by ten.
*Because* they are coming from you. You are the worst liar on all of
usenet after Snit Michael Glasser.

peter is bad at math, and still can't figure out how to set his usenet
follow-ups correctly. lunix's village idiot makes us laugh again.
if you multiplied my numbers by 10, that would mean 50% of all new Macs
do NOT have firewire, which is ABSURD... and 10% of all macs since 2000
did NOT have firewire, which is ludicrous.
sorry peter, you lose again.

Peter is simply displaying is low self esteem. It is *the* reason he
belittles everyone else...

Why would they already have a firewire cable? They don't get included
for free. Most devices that would be prone to use the firewire interface
have been displaced by USB devices instead.
They are even dropping firewire from some new Macs.
There are probably a lot of Mac users that have no clue what firewire is.
