Well, I wasn't trying to pick nits, but data is data, whether it comes
via WiFi or cell towers, (3G, Edge, etc.). But a data *plan*, that's a
fish of a different stripe/color/specie. What I just learned from a day
in Canada, is that data streaming in to populate the Maps on my iPhone
adds up to a lot of "data"..... about $1900.00 worth.

So, a i/GoPhone can still connect to WiFi; very handy.

If you say so. But my wifi data is free, and if I get data from cell
towers I have to pay for it.

So to me there is a big difference.

    Re: iPhone as GoPhone?

    1) goPhone does NOT support iPhone officially

    2) If you unlock the iPhone through jailbreaking it may work, but
usually only for talk. No guarantee ANy other function will work

    3) Why don't you try T-mobile? You may be able to buy iPhone elsewhere
and activate it on T-mobile. If not, they have several decent Android
phones that's almost as good as iPhone (in some respects, better)

    true

there is no need to unlock or jailbreak an iphone to use it with
gophone and data only requires changing the apn.

if you don't mind being limited to 2g speeds, t-mobile is an option.
