    Hi,

I just got off of the phone with Tech support and they tell me I have to
use my personal ISP account to be able to access the internet using my
laptop. Is this true? I am able to get my laptop to talk to my phone
through bluetooth, but when it dials out it is looking for a Username,
Password and number to dial . I searched the net and tried *99# as the
number, but I don't know what the username and password should be.

I am on the wireless internet plan ($6.99) and use a Sony Ericsson T616
    phone.

    Any help would be appreciated!

PS. I tried setting up my phone to log into my ISP but it couldn't for some
    reason...

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Stacey

    Try this...
    *99#
    username is [email protected]
    password is CINGULAR1

What do you get for 6.99? 1 Mb? You will use that up quickly on a laptop.
Understand that you will be charged approx $10 for each additional Mb,
regardless of the ISP, on this plan. There are plans with larger pre-paid Mb
buckets. See Cingular's web site for details.

Proceed with caution, if you are able to connect...

Re: Username, Password and number to dial t616

I'd like to use the CSD option. I can not get connected.

When I dial *99# it tries to connect but hen kicks me out.

When I try to use my ISP, it says it is dialing and then it kicks me out
before it gets to my username and password.

Any help would be appreciated! There has got to be a way to use my phone as
    a modem.

    Thanks,

    Stacey

What are you using for the number you dial ?
What are you using for your username and password?

Slow is Ok with me, just so long as I can use it.

Two ways to connect to the internet, Chip is thinking you are connecting to
the fast way, WIX is $6.99 for 1MB, I'am thinking the slow way CSD (dial in)
either your isp or Cingular's, charged same as voice.

Re: Username, Password and number to dial t616

I setup User name of [email protected] and phone number of 18472549271 on my
phone before I posted the first message, but couldn't figure out how to make
my dialer program on my laptop use that account.I guess the trouble I am
having is that I am trying to connect to my cell phone using bluetooth. I
can connect to it from my laptop, I just can not get it to act like a modem.

On my verizon account I had to use the windows DUN connection to connect,
and it used the number #777 and no username or password and i was able to
connect all day long, but I did have a usb cable.

I guess I need to ditch the bluetooth and go buy the data conncet kit...

    Thanks,

    Stacey

I'am using CSD with a Nokia 6340i and a data cable connected to Cingular as
the ISP it is slow but works.
Was not easy to setup it took several days with the Cingular expert on site
    calling all her inside contacts.
Got a CD from Cingular that setup the dial connection, the software is
called QuickLink Mobile from Smith Micro Software Inc.

That's because *99# is the GPRS dialup number.

To use CSD, just dial your usual dial-up ISP's number and enter your
    username and password.

Not sure as the software doesn't show this, the call log on the phone
    doesn't show it either.

You need their software CD and Cingular must setup your account to allow the
    connection (CSD).
I've read about people using the standard modem driver and setting the speed
    at 9600 or 19200 baud.
You are using bluetooth and I'am using a cable not sure that their software
    will support bluetooth.
Have you setup your phone to access the web and do it work ?
Have you setup your my wireless account on the Cingular web site ?
Note My Wireless is different from the account you setup to access you
    billing info.

    before it connects...
