a friend has Cingular and just recently picked up a nokia 3595 ( has built
in aol messenger). From his phone, he can connect to AOL messenger and see
his buddy list and also start to chat w/ regular IM users. According to him
it doesn't use GPRS coz he doesn't have it nor did he sign up for it. It
only uses txt messaging. I have a nokia 3650 and want to have the same
capability without signing up for Cingular GPRS. I tried using both IM+ and
AgileMessenger app on my phone but both requires a GPRS connection w/c I
    don't have.

Does anyone know how AOL on the 3595 connects to AOL messenger? Is it some
gateway ipaddress I need to specify?

    Re: Cingular AOL messenger

Thanks. The aol site allows you to forward messages to your mobile but what
i want is to be able to initiate the chat and also have my buddy list
avialable to see who is online.. The aol mobile messenger installed on nokia
3595 allows for that so there must be a way to install software and
configure connection parameters in the nokia 3650 to do the same thing.. i
    hope...

    any help is greatly appreciated...

I would also kill for this on my 3600. Cingular has to figure out that
people with phones besides the 3595 want full featured AOL messaging.
