Ok..I got this new Cingular phone with Mobile to Mobile....does that mean:
1. If I call my voicemail to check it - is that considered mobile-to-mobile?
2. If I call another Cingular customer that does not have the
mobile-to-mobile feature, is that considered M-to-M for me? I know it would
not be for them.
Thx!

For me yes this is the case it is considered M2M

It depends somewhat on how cingular bills. If the number you use to
check voicemail is a cingular number they may charge it at
mobile-to-mobile.

It's mobile-to-mobile for you, but not for the other person if they
don't subscribe to a mobile-to-mobile plan.

No, it is not Mobile to Mobile - the voice mail system is a land based service
in the carriers switch someplace.

For you yes.

Re: Mobile to Moble??
I believe that if you call your own Cingular number to check voice mail,
then it's Mobile to Mobile. If you use the Cingular number, then it's not.

Re: Mobile to Moble??
So that leads to the question...if you are calling someones mobile and it
rolls to voicemail - from what you are saying it would start to come out of
your normal bucket...
that is not good!

I have a hard time believing a call that starts out to be
mobile-to-mobile, ends up being billed differently just because the
called mobile's voice mail picked up. However, if true, this could
explain why some people don't leave messages, although by the time they
realise the VM has answered, it's too late to change the type of billing
that follows. Sorry, but that just seems so stupid.

Calls to your own number from your mobile phone are charged out of
your regular bucket. Calls to another Cingular number will be charged
from your mobile-to-mobile bucket. It does not matter who answers the
phone.

Re: Mobile to Moble??
I agree. Calls to your voicemail are billed as a regular call. Unless
you have Enhanced voicemail. In that case it doesn't cost you a cent.
Calls to another Cingular customer so long as they fit within your
mobile to mobile calling area if you don't have the national plan are
M2M no matter if they have M2M or not, and no matter if they answer or
if voicemail takes it.

Re: Mobile to Moble??
Slightly off subject, but somewhat relevant... I was asked recently
whether or not calls forwarded from one Cingular phone to another
Cingular phone would be considered M2M. I found that those calls
aren't considered M2M, either.
