I've just picked-up a Motorola V400 and added Cingular's Internet
Express service to my account. After spending some very painful time
on the phone with Cingular customer service I'm stll very lost as to
how to set-up the phone for wireless internet service.
Can anyone in the NC area help?
Thanks,
Frank

Re: Set-up V400 for Internet Express in Raleigh NC area
What are you trying to set up
The internet or email
Internet is easy. Add the feature on your account by going to
www.cingular.com and goto the wap and register.
Next use your phone and go on the web, It will ask you to input the
username and password you created.
For the email settings in the phone use the following
username cing
pass msg
servers photo.mycingular.com
return address (your #)@mobile.mycingular.com
and your name in name field.

Re: Set-up V400 for Internet Express in Raleigh NC area
Thanks but this isn't quite what I'm looking for.
My phone (Motorola V400) has an e-mail function under the web browser
that will download mail that comes from an account set-up at
www.mywirelesswindow.com using the name and password I set-up there.
I must actively browse the web to get any mail sent there. It doesn't
appear that I can set-up a filter or forwarding information at
www.mywirlesswindow.com to send mail anywhere else.
My phone also has a "Message" button that opens a "Message Center"
window. Mail sent to my#@mobile.mycingular.com is sent there along with
notification.
If I have mail at www.mywirelesswindow.com none of the "Message Center"
mail functions can see or downlaod it.
Any way to forward from [email protected] (mywirelesswindow) to
my#@mobile.mycingular.com? My user name at mywirelesswindow is easier
for people to remember than the whole my#.....
Interestingly my user name and password set-up at mywirelesswindow seem
to work if I put them into the "Message Center" entries for
my#@mobile.mycingular.com.

Re: Set-up V400 for Internet Express in Raleigh NC area
I've recently picked up a moto v400 myself, and it's taking me quite a bit
of time to get the settings correct for the unit. Actually, I'm still
playing with it, because it seems that the mail will work fine one time, but
not the next.
Anyway, what I think is happening, mail that is sent to
my#@mobile.mycingular.com is converted into an sms msg and sent to the
phone. You can configure the built in email client in the phone to receive
email from a pop3 acct., or what you may want to do is get a
free/inexepensive forwarding email acct., such as www.bigfoot.com or
www.v3.com, set it up with an easy to remember username, and have it forward
all mail sent to that address to my#@mobile.mycingular.com. I don't think
the phone number as your email address is all that difficult to remember, as
long as your friends or business associates know your phone number, they
have your email address.

Re: Set-up V400 for Internet Express in Raleigh NC area
I am not aware of any way to auto forward the #@mobile.mycingular.com
or the [email protected] to anywhere.
With internet service you wind up with 2 emails. One directly to the
phone and another to the web service. IMHO the web service email
should be able to foward directly to your phone.
