Let's see, you come to an anonymous place full of (at best) wisecracking
idiots to get a factual answer that would better and more accurately,
and probably faster, be answered by simply picking up the phone and
saying, "I'm a police officer, and I hear Sprint gives a discount for
law enforcement. Do you?"
I'm constantly amazed at the number of people who would come to the
Usenet thinking he'll get BETTER and FASTER answers to factual items
like this.
Face it: you're sitting your fat lazy ass in front of a computer
screen, and getting to the phone means getting up--which you're too fat
and lazy to do. So, you just take a second and bang it out on the
screen.
You didn't expect anything MEANINGFUL out of that exercise, did you?

I constantly amazed that anyone would criticise someone for doing such,
given:
1. The abysmally long hold times at the 800 numbers.
2. The likely hood of being tansferred for a doubly long hold time.
3. The problem that with a qquetsion thats not one of the top ten
questions asked, all too often a rep will make up an answer so as to get
you off the phoine wuickly and keep their "Handle Time"
low. A question like this liley you could ask 4 different reps and get 5
answers.
4. The pure arogance of chastising a fellow USENETer.

Anecdotal evidence means zilch, when we have scientific surveys by
J.D. Power
The Yankee Group
Consumer Reports
But Scottie doesn't like the scientific answers, so he hunts for a
different one.

Yeah, God forbid that I should ask someone with accounts with multiple
carriers which one he prefers. And my question was so biased- apparently, I
worded in a way that would lead him to one particular answer. None of the
groups you mentioned would ever do that.
But, I guess I should expect as much from someone who frequently gets his
ass in a wringer in these groups because he makes stuff up, lies, misquotes,
evades questions, uses multiple names in a thread to bolster his argument
and plays both sides of an argument when it gives him a chance to trash any
provider.
You were wrong-
-when you said AT&T would never offer 7 pm nights
-when you said Sprint didn't have a Retention department
-when you said that AT&T wouldn't match web prices at retail stores
-when you said that Sprint's retention teams vary by call center
You ride both sides of the argument-
-when talking about providers' profitiability. You act the doomsayer when
they are losing money, and then you piss and moan when they take action to
improve profitability.
-when talking about coverage maps. In one breath, you say they are not
accurate, and then in the next you are provideing informationbased on them.
-when talking about Sprint's Cancellation team. First, they don't act as a
retention team. Next, you're steering people towards then to get a
retention deal.
All of this is just within the last couple of weeks, and just a small
portion of each list. I could have posted the 50+ names you have used in
these groups over the last year, but no need to bore everyone with that.

Only at one carrier that I'm aware of, at this time.

Always have to look for the worst scenario, don't you, Phil.

So you are saying that a person will get the same answer every time here?

You only get guesses and speculation here. For the difinitive answer you HAVE
to call the carrier.
What I got yesterday, may not be available to you tomorrow.

Not really. Their pre-buyout cooperative agreements mean that you are using
the same network with the same technology. Thus, the same towers also. If
you are a Cingular customer, you may or may not be aware that you are also
an ATT customer. If you are an ATT customer, you may or may not be aware
that you are a Cingular customer. So if you've narrowed down your choices
to ATT or Cingular, choose lowest price, as they are the same now, and will
soon be using the same name (cingular) -Dave

So instead, one should come to Usenet where people make up answers for
fun, or repeat what they're sure they heard from a friend of a friend of
that guy's dentist's wife whose stepson heard it from an auxiliary
police officer, or whatever.
You want to avoid the 5 different answer thing, so you come to USENET???

Re: Does Cingular offer this discount?
Sprintpcs.
I have the Old plan $85 (before discount) unlimited pcs-pcs and
unlimited vision which I use with desktop and mobile.
I also get better coverage using my Sanyo 4900
than with any of the other services in my particular area....
