Don't tempt him!
He is not an expert in ANY cellular provider and is here for entertainment
purposes only. NOTHING he says is correct.

Re: BEWARE OF CINGULAR
So Phillipe (or any one of your 50+ other alias IDs on the
alt.cellular.sprintpcs newsgroup)...Are you an expert on Cingular
products now?
I've used Cingular since it was Southwestern Bell and have roamed
in PHX many times without any problems and use a Nokia phone on
Cingular for work, and the company I work for has a Cingular
franchise - so I just might know more than you do.
Not only are you a Sprint PCS antagonist (a troll by any other
name), you've decided to start polluting this NG.

Again with the childish insults.
Why do you apologiosts assume everyone with a complaint is lying. If
Cingular does not have native coverage in much of Phoenix then if the
gentleman does not have a plan with roaming, he'll encounter the problem
he described. And if he was sold a phone under other pretenses, then he
has a right to complain.

One thing for sure, you show a propensity to hurl childish insults,
if you disagree with someone.

Yes he does- notice that no one has denied him that ability. You, on the
other hand, go where you have no knowledge- and for that, you pay the price.

It may be an insult, but you STILL use..what is it up to now? 58+
names in NGs? Since we haven't sen any evidence that you are a
Cingular customer, how does that qualify you as being more
knowledgeable than those of us that are?

So are suggesting that you aren't polluting other NGs with inane
information? You are....period.
> Why do you apologiosts assume everyone with a complaint is lying.
Who assumed he was lying, he may not be giving correct or valid
information due to a basic lack of understand of cellular plans
and technology, or his rate plan.
> If Cingular does not have native coverage in much of Phoenix
"Native coverage"? Hmmm...I assume that you mean Cingular doesn't have
any licenses in Pheonix and that's correct, but they partner with
providers that do. As far as the custoemr is concerned, its "all
Cingular".
> then if the gentleman does not have a plan with roaming, he'll

Bullcrap...unless I'm mistaken, what plan you're on has nothing to
do with either you can place a call or not, it only has to do with
how you are billed. An exception would be if you have a GSM only
phone and there is no GSM coverage, other exceptions may apply.
> And if he was sold a phone under other pretenses, then he
> has a right to complain.
Wow...are you assuming he didn't bother to look at a coverage map
to see if he would be roaming and paying a higher rate?

Re: BEWARE OF CINGULAR
Not only that custoimer service is non existent, but plenty of lip service.
I left them for ATT. Now that the sorry sob's bought ATT I am now soon to
leave them.

Re: BEWARE OF CINGULAR
Sounds like typical Cinglar inconsistencies. One phone number works another
doesnt even at the same location.

Is Cingular really that different in other parts of the country?
I live in the 'seattle market, and I have had pretty good service,
decent coverage, and good general service from the
company when I needed it.
Or are all of these posters who keep having all these
problems just really high maintinence types?
What gives? ( I have had cingular for three years)

Re: BEWARE OF CINGULAR
I have had Cingular in the Atlanta market for about 10 years. Are they
perfect, of course not. But they have responded to my problems well.
The latest happened after I got GSM and received terrible reception in
the area that I work. A Customer Service Rep suggested I call tech
support and they admitted to a rather large dead area. They
repositioned something on a tower and it improved enough (not great).
About a month later, I can now receive full signal. The same CSR gave
me a couple batteries for my phone. Obviously, I am very happy with my
overall experience and have no desire to leave. Could it be, in part,
the way the CSRs are approached? They are only human and often respond
better to a nice approach than a nasty one.

Great you had a good experience. Recent surveys show folks rate Cell
companies with cable companies for difficulties getting service.
It varies by CSR, Call Center and company. It's also a function of how
much authority a CSR has. If the CSR you reach has no authority to send
you a battery, that wouldn't happen.

Re: beware of cingular
cingular is a decent company and i'm sure that they will improve as more
gsm towers are located... yet this change over to gsm could have been
better planned, to where people wouldn't be leaving to other
providers... my s.o. travels within the southeast, primarily within
georgia and south carolina... he did have a tdma phone, of which years
ago, it was fine, yet since bout six months ago, it slowly became
useless outside of the metro areas, away from the interstates, or up
into south carolina where At&t's network supplanted cingular's coverage,
fer which he then tried a new gsm phone, yet found the coverage area to
be less than what the tdma phone once offered... as of this week, he's
trying verizon and thus far it's working where both the cincular gsm and
tdma did not... at the cingular store, they had suggested a phone that
offered both tdma and gsm, though indicated that once leaving the tdma
tower coverage, to a gsm tower coverage, that he'd lose the call, thus
unacceptable... being a shareholder of bellsouth, my s.o. resisted
leaving cingular, yet what broke the camel's back was the fact that when
traveling interstate 85 from georgia into south carolina, that the
cingular coverage simply died and there were too many dead spots fer the
gsm phone within rural georgia and rural south carolina... yet, as i
suggested at the beginning, that as cingular adds towers, that i'm sure
it will improve... yet, time is money and he just couldn't be without
coverage... it would have made more sense if cingular had a complete
coverage of towers in place before changing the systems...
