Sounds like the phone has not been activated yet, in which case a call
to customer service would take care of that.

Complete newbie here with a question
Hi,
I just received my first cell phone in the mail an hour ago
and I'm getting a "searching for network" screen then a
"registering" screen then I get a message:
Unregistered SIM
1/1/00
What does this mean? Do I have to call customer service
to fix this?
It's Cingular with a Moto v400
Thanks....

Re: Complete newbie here with a question
Just dial 611 on the Cell phone.
They'll help you from there.

Actually, it appears the SIM hasn't been activiated. The V400, being a GSM
phone, is not technically activated. The SIM is.

Re: Complete newbie here with a question
it means your phone isn't activated yet. Yes call CS or go to Cingular store
to activate the phone
