My wife currently has a TDMA phone with Cingular and the service is great.
There aren't any places that I have been with her that she was unable to get
    a sigaal.How is Cingular's GSM coverage? I have a Treo 600 and now that
Cingular has unlimited WIX and 200 MMS, 1500 SMS, I am thinking about
jumping ship from Tmo. Tmo's coverage is ok but lacks good coverage inside
buildings. I would like to know of anyone's experience with Cingular GSM.
Also, does anyone know if it is 850 or 1900?

In Houston, Cingular has overlaid GSM onto the existing TDMA/AMPS
service in the cellular A-band. GSM coverage should be virtually
identical to TDMA/AMPS coverage since all the sites (and even the
antenna panels) are shared between the 3 technologies.

TDMA/GSM is co-located on the same sites at 850 MHz. Automatic roaming on
T-Mobile & AWS if Cingular is unavailable or too weak. Very solid in Texas.

You forget that a Treo 600 can not do Analog. Not solid out away from
    the Interstates.

I didn't forget. Cingular offers Treo 600s for GSM-only plans and offers
GAIT phones for those needing analog coverage. GSM coverage with Cingular
is better than any other domestic provider due to their roaming agreements.

SprintPCS only just started offering "analog" coverage a short time ago.
T-Mobile doesn't offer it, yet. Nextel doesn't offer it. In fact, there
are many regional/local operators that do not offer analog at all.
