I am considering switching from ATTWS to either T-mobile or Cingular.
How is the coverage in downtown Ann Arbor?

Is it possible to port fro ATTWS to TMO or cingular prepaid so I can
try out before a year long contract?

    Thanks in advance

Are you on ATT GSM right now? If so, you can force the network to lock on
to Cingular and make calls. Three weeks ago, ATT users were given complete
access to the Cingular network. If A2 is your home market, using Cingular
is treated just like using ATT.

Cingular has a tower that covers the State STreet and South U business
districts fine. I even got a signal in the third subbasement of the Law
Library. I've never heard of any carrier that didn't cover the Main Street
business district. The problem was with Campus and U of M interferring with
    a much needed tower.

T-Mobile works fine. My wife has it and she has never had a problem. We
live about 10 miles from A2 and are there all the time. My office was in
downtown Ann Arbor until a year or so ago. When I switched from ATT TDMA to
ATT GSM, I felt that the dip in coverage, but hung on because of the
unlimited minute plan that I was on. With Cingular access, everything works
great. Cingular GSM customers can also access ATT so this is a two way
    street.

Yes, I notice along S. U, ATT sometimes show up as Cingular. I will
try to force it to have Cingular reception to see if it works beter.
    Thank you.
