At my home, AT&T coverage is much stronger than Cingular. If I'm on the
Nation plan, when would I 'roam' onto the AT&T network?

Does anyone know the parameters of when a Cingular phone would begin
    'roaming' onto a different network?

Another thing is that the Network Selection option is disabled on the SIM
card to it's not possible to 'force' the phone to register to any network.
In other words, the Network Selection is set to Automatic by default.

It would roam onto another carrier when no signal is available from
    Cingular.
You will not pay for it, but you will know when your phone's banner says
    "Cingular Extend" instead of "Cingular".
Network Selection is not available with Cingular, and has not been for quite
a while. They don't want you to set your phone on another company, and force
them to pay roaming fees whenever your in an area they have service in.

what if im on cingular and use a super home / local plan.i live in southern
california and its supposed to cover all of CA, some of vegas and some in WA
i actually think for some wierd reason.
how do i know when i leave my service area? would my banner change from
    cingular to cingular extended ?
i have a sony ericsson t616. seems like anytime i go more than 2-3 hours
away my friends all goto roaming.

another side note- also on my phone when i travel more than 2 hrs away it
always asks me to update my clock. this got very annoying and i turned it
off. it didnt use to always ask so much what changed ?

SuperHome plans included the whole states of California, Nevada, Oregon, and
Washington/N. Idaho from what I can recall. It shouldn't matter what the
banner says, as long as your well into those States.

You can go into your menu settings and turn Clock Autoupdate off, it wont do
    that anymore.
