John, thanks for your reply. Actually, right now both phones are brand new
and haven't had the pleasure of being subjected to much abuse yet. Here's
one thing I did and believe it or not it seems to have helped. I was on one
of the older prefered nation promotions which was rather nice. 1050 anytime
minutes and 5000 n/w for $60.00 and this was with the gait phone added. When
I spoke to the cingular rep he stated that what might be happening is since
the system has my
esn number even though my
sim was in a
gsm phone there
might be conflicts regarding which tower I would be handed off to. The
possibillity existed that the system would be trying to find a tdma tower if
the
gsm signal was week and since I was using a
gsm phone and not the gait
phone which is what I do when I am in my home area, I might be handed off
differently. I asked the rep to deactivate the
esn and take the gait phone
off the account. Well, I rebooted the phone 2 times and got the little
welcome cingular message and I do notice a les fragmented signal. Now, when
he suggested this I laughed because I figured that since the card was in the
gsm phone it would know what to do. Hmmm, i guess if it works right? Have
you heard of this at all? Thanks again.
