No offense, but nonsense. Few subscribers even care about data. For the
majority of those that do, EDGE is ample, and GPRS is sufficient.

On the contrary -- take-up of 3G remains weak in most of the world, and GSM is
    still going strong.

Today yes, but the path for the future is to WCDMA.

    Simpler link:
    <http://www.3gamericas.org/pdfs/TDMA_...M_Ericsson.pdf>

TDMA and GSM/GPRS networks grown and marketed
in parallel for next 1-4 years (or more)

It also shows GSM->GPRS->EDGE as an alternative to WCDMA.

Do you even read the things you post? ;-)

Irrelevant, and that's not what your own citations says in any event.
Your really ought to read before posting. ;-)

So should you, in one posting you're calling EDGE 3g, in another 2.75G.

    1. I'm not the one calling EDGE anything other than EDGE.
    2. Your own citations undermine your claims.
    3. What you call it is irrelevant. EDGE is EDGE.

You posted a News story calling it 2.75G. How soon you forget.

What part of "I'm not the one calling EDGE anything other than EDGE" don't you
understand? (I didn't write that news story, or didn't you notice? I posted
it only for the adoption data on EDGE, not some silly semantic argument.)

You posted the story, and said not one word disagreeing with it. Any

Confirmed that ATTWS now has UMTS (3G) live here in the San Francisco Bay
Area. Likewise EDGE. Very cool. I expect to be testing and reporting on
    these new services soon.
