Re: A Cingular Experience- Part Two-- A Call For Action

Why do you say these things to total strangers?

I said that I had just paid $300 on August 7th. I said that I had
asked to know what my whole bill was. I had wanted to pay it off in
its entirety and that's what I thought that I had done.

Why shouldn't they have told me what my accrued balance was? Don't
give me some crap about having to retrieve data periodically from cell
towers. Every other business in the country can do it. The cell
business is probably one if not the most highly computerized
businesses in the world. Why is it so much harder for cell companies
to do what a mom and pop store can do?

Because they make more money if consumers don't know all the ins and
    outs of their contracts.

Because they count on people like you to just roll over and pay
    whatever they say.

Now if that's not true, tell me why they take so long (I think someone
said that some calls can take two or three months to be billed.). I
thought that the Pony Express died in the 19th Century.

And why do you make fun of people rather than giving an actual
argument with reasons to support it?

None of your four so-called points is anything other than a personal
attack on me. Other than the fact that I signed a contract back in
1999, which I acknowledge, you have no legal or moral basis for
anything that you say, so you resort to calling names.

Because you have no real guts and you get off on attacking strangers
rather than trying to help them.

What kind of person are you?

Show me that you have some brains and I can respect it. Call me names
and I just think that you are a pustule on the face of humanity.

Resist the temptation, say something intelligent for once in your
    life.

    Don't flame people. Help them.

    Answer one question:

Why do you hang out on the cellular newsgroup? Are you there to help
or just to beat people up?

The (your) service agreement makes it clear that it can take up to 2 months to
    bill all charges.

    >Why shouldn't they have told me what my accrued balance was?

Because they may not have all the necessary information.

    >Don't
    >give me some crap about having to retrieve data periodically from cell

Because mom and pop can't do it, and many roaming carriers can't either. They
bill Cingular at the end of their billing cycle. Cingular then has to process
that information, and bill you. That takes time.

    >Because they make more money if consumers don't know all the ins and
    >outs of their contracts.

    Didn't you read the contract?

    >Because they count on people like you to just roll over and pay

We don't just roll over -- we pay what we owe.

    >Now if that's not true, tell me why they take so long (I think someone
    >said that some calls can take two or three months to be billed.). I

    See above.

    We've done that.

    >None of your four so-called points is anything other than a personal
    >attack on me.

While those remarks were inappropriate, you did invite them.

    >Other than the fact that I signed a contract back in
    >1999, which I acknowledge, you have no legal or moral basis for

We have both the contract and what you write to go on.

    >Because you have no real guts and you get off on attacking strangers
    >rather than trying to help them.

Why should we be trying to help you? What makes you deserving of our help?
    Who are you helping?

    >What kind of person are you?

    Responsible.

    >Show me that you have some brains and I can respect it. Call me names
    >and I just think that you are a pustule on the face of humanity.

I frankly don't care either way.

    >Resist the temptation, say something intelligent for once in your
    >life.

You're not doing terribly well in that area yourself.

    >Don't flame people. Help them.

    Why?

    >Answer one question:
    >
    >Why do you hang out on the cellular newsgroup?

    For my own personal benefit.

    >Are you there to help
    >or just to beat people up?

I'm here to participate and to benefit. I'm not on a mission to help people.
    Are you?

All of this from the same person that posted...
Wow. I guess I really have run into a bunch of true "Dog Eat Dog "
libertarians.............the kind that don't let their kids play
outside because they know better than to let rapists have access to
them, the kind that don't ever order the specials in a restaurant
without asking what it costs, the ones who don't care if the food they
buy is not as labeled ("Hey,get your own testing lab"), the kind that
think that if someone gets abused by their priest (Hey, life sucks
kid. So you had to eat a little [Sorry, skipped] , get over it.") or if
    they get
cut off by someone crossing three lanes in front of them and nearly
crash, that's the breaks.(Hey, I should have stayed at home.)

Re: A Cingular Experience- Part Two-- A Call For Action

Have you written Cingular with an offer to pay the bill if they
pro-rate your plan to a higher bucket plan? For examply, if you had
400 min / month that you exceeded by 350 minutes, offer to pay the
rate for the 800 min / month plan for the periods of excessive
overage. You may want to throw in a hint of personal bankruptancy
(sp?) to tip the scales in your direction. My suggestion going forward
is to stick with a pre-paid plan or give up mobile phones all
together. These options give you complete control of $$. The best way
to let them know how dissatisfied you are with their product is to not
    buy it at all!

Good luck and keep us posted!

Another option for those that have trouble keeping track of minutes is a
    SprintPCS Fair and Flexible plan.
