my 2 year contract expires at the end of this month, will they turn my
phone off or just keep them on, on a month to month basis thing? seems
like they would as long as they get money....

You will just move to a month to month deal. It'll stay that way until you
change plans, get a rebate on a new phone, etc.

I'm with ya there. I want my phone to make phone calls...that's it. I don't
want a camera, email, IM, internet, etc etc. <g>

going to the new GSM phone might be worth it to get the 39.99 nationwide
    1000 minute plan.
