I checked out your web page before I posted my reply. You obviously
know an awful lot about many things.

And your reply was at least written politely, even if if was rather
cold. Why not be a little nicer? You know, as Batman says, "If only he
would use his powers for good instead of evil."

Give it a try for two weeks. You'll like it. You'll probably even get
a lot more business as a result.

Give it up John. Whoever or whatever got you started was wrong too.
    But you can do better.

Thank you for a (somewhat) constructive note, and for the kind words. I do
try to be nice, but my terseness (due to limited time) sometimes gets
(mis)taken for coldness. Thanks for the reminder -- I'll redouble my efforts.
In return, I suggest you take your own advice. Fair enough?

    I will third that.

John, you have quite a bit of knowledge and your contributions the
    group are appreciated.

Now if you would just get your lips off of cingular's ass every once
once in a while, we would have no problem. If you think Cingular is
the best carrier in the world, so be it. Nothing's wrong with that.
But understand others have their right to their own opinion. Also,
don't get angry when others prove you wrong. It's life, it happens.
Just accept the fact that you dont always the answers. Contrary to
popular opinion, you're NOT the Cingular God. So get over it. Cingular
doesn't regard you or anyone else as 'special' All they give a ****
about is whether the bill is paid or not. End of story

John, perhaps a little more effort to be open to other perspectives would be
helpful as well. You apparently have some knowledge of different
disciplines, so your contributions aren't without merit. If your only
contributions to newsgroup threads are contrarian, antagonistic, or abrupt,
you'll not be taken seriously. Fortunately there are enough kind souls here
to offer helpful advice. Thanks to John B for bringing this topic to bear.

In other words, you object to my pointing out that the carrier isn't always
the bad guy, which you seem to think justifies nasty behavior on your part.
Sorry, but if that's your expectation, then I'm going to keep disappointing
    you.

    >If you think Cingular is
    >the best carrier in the world, so be it.

I don't -- there is no one best carrier.

    >Nothing's wrong with that.

    Thank you.

    >But understand others have their right to their own opinion.

    I agree.

    >Also,
    >don't get angry

I don't get angry. You seem to be the angry -- perhaps you're projecting.

    >when others prove you wrong.

When would that be? Show me and I'll acknowledge it.

    >It's life, it happens.

    Indeed.

    >Just accept the fact that you dont always the answers.

Of course I don't. It's why I spend so much time looking them up.

    >Contrary to
    >popular opinion, you're NOT the Cingular God.

    Popular opinion?!

    >So get over it.

Get over what? Respect for the personal responsibility and fairness?

    >Cingular
    >doesn't regard you or anyone else as 'special'

Only in the sense that we're customers.

    >All they give a ****
    >about is whether the bill is paid or not. End of story

There we go again. The carrier is the bad guy. So here I go again:
They care most about being successful, which includes accounts receivable, but
many other things as well, like minimizing churn. Cingular has been doing
well on the bottom line, so it must be doing at least some things right.

    1. I'm not here to be taken seriously -- that's strictly up to others.

    2. My contributions can sometimes be abrupt (I'd say terse). Sorry about
that, but it takes time to write more, and my time is often limited.

    3. I don't think I'm contrarian or antagonistic. Sorry you feel that way.

    >Thanks to John B for bringing this topic to bear.

This topic is inappropriate and off-topic -- see the newsgroup charter.

What others think of your behavior elicits no more than a "I'm sorry you
    feel that way."

But what you think of the behavior of others cannot be dismissed with a
simple "sorry you think that way". No one else can tell YOU that; no
sir, others have to kowtow to your way of thinking or ELSE.

Or ELSE you'll run and tell some news admins, or an ISP, or your momma,
    or whatever.

Well, John: I'm sorry you feel that way.

    Next.

Yeah, I can. I resist you all the time. You, however, can't keep your
yap shut. You think that the **** that comes out of your yap is pure
gold and doesn't stink, AND that the whole world wants to know what pops
into your head at any given moment.

You should run a web log instead. Hey, there's a thought: you could
own it and set the rules for your playground. Then you don't have to be
bothered by the real world interfering with you.

John's been known for his "opinions" since the days of, oh, 300 baud modems
(or at least he'd like to think he's been an "expert" that long). I find it
funny that he's surfaced here as I had killfiled him since his days of rants
on modem technology. There's little likelihood he'll ever change, give the
past years of his behavior. Your best bet is to add him to your killfile
    and move on

I was around then, but managed to ignore him.
