Not true. The charter (which I wrote) clearly states (in part):

    Inappropriate (banned) articles:
    * Off-topic (not directly related to Cingular Wireless service)
    * Personal insults or repetitive flaming (attacks)

    Please respect it.

Who makes YOU the master of USENET ??

This is an unmoderated group, and we've seen many posts the last few
days from folks that find YOU offensive.

Sadly, there seem to be a few bad apples in every Usenet barrel.

So, John: more with the he said/she said? Which are you, pitcher or

And you stand behind that as you come in here playing net-kop to try to
    make things go YOUR way.

Which means you're trying to be the "master of USENET", as he said.

Tell us all, John: why does your charter matter? Why does the fact
that you went through the steps to create a newsgroup matter?

It doesn't. Anyone can create a newsgroup. Big deal. You're like the
slow kid who enjoys telling the world how he didn't fall out of bed this
    morning.

    >Tell us all, John: why does your charter matter?

    Because it governs this newsgroup.

    >Why does the fact
    >that you went through the steps to create a newsgroup matter?

    Because it otherwise wouldn't exist.

    >It doesn't. Anyone can create a newsgroup. ...

So go do it. Instead of doing your best to trash this one.

Does being a jerk come naturally, or do you have to work at it?

UNMODERATED newsgroup. If you wish to control what is being said here
I suggest you create a MODERATED group.
The posts in this thread became an off-shoot of the original.
    They are therefore, OT.

I am not trying to be a jerk. I'm just trying to point out that this group
is UNmonderated and that you don't need to be playing the
part of moderator. It also seems to me that the thread that we
are referencing here IS part of the original and is, therefore, on topic.

I'm not. I'm politely asking people to respect the charter. Do you even know
    what moderation is?

This meta discussion is clearly off-topic. Read the charter. Off-shoots
(your term) are not exempt from being on-topic.

Yeah. Every time you turn around. And you never fail to mention that
    you created the newsgroup.

Just what ARE you trying to accomplish?

I know: nothing more than blowing your own horn, talking for the sake
of hearing your own voice. It's your favorite thing in the world.

Nobody cares, John. Accept it and move on.
