Cingular closed the deal within an hour before anyone could file suit.

    THE DEAL IS DONE.

    -Closing_Release_10-25.doc>

    Now (or real soon now) Free Mobile to Mobile between ATTWS and Cingular;
and totally free roaming between Cingular and ATTWS Networks.

Next month it's said that ATTWS customers can switch plans to get
Rollover minute plans, but likely they'd lose any free 7 PM nights if
they have that now; as they'd be exiting ATTWS computer systems and
going into Cingular computer systems with their STILL fubar "My Account"
    on the web where one can no longer accurately track the minute usage;
and calling the automated 611# ALSO GIVES WRONG ANSWERS, ignoring
all free mobile to mobile minutes. So it's already an empty promise for
Cingular to say the transition will be seamless for ATTWS customers.

    Suits could still be filed.

The deal isn't completely done until the Court has approved the deal.

    What Cingular actually said:

Cingular will now start opening access to both the Cingular and AT&T
Wireless GSM networks to further improve coverage, allowing customers
of both companies to use the new, combined network without roaming
charges. Customers also will have the ability to make unlimited
mobile-to-mobile calls to any Cingular or AT&T Wireless customer.

The key work there is "start" -- it remains to be seen how long it will take
to fully implement this. In particular, I think it will take some time for
the mobile-to-mobile part to happen (since it would seem to be a pretty big
change to the back end systems).

    >Rollover minute plans ...

Is that more than just an Internet Rumor?

The Buyout is a done deal.

Face it - You were wrong. Quit pretending it hasn't happened.

Now for seamlessly merging the two companies, that could be 5 + years. 4
years after Cingular was created the pieces brought together to create
Cingular STILL have not been seamless merged. Try calling 611 when
you're 1000 miles from home and see what happens.

No answer, so I guess it's just a rumor.

OK, John, I'll bite- you keep throwing court approval into this- what court?
Neither company is in bankruptcy or probate, the Merger Agreement was
accepted by AWE shareholders without legal opposition, and other than an
action brought by Texas and Louisiana (which both states and the Justice
Department state has been settled with Cingular) there is no court action
    surrounding this merger.

take your pissing match off the group and let us see some real news.

as someone who worked for both, and can fully appreciate who much of a mess
both can be, if anything thinks this will go through smoothly, just look at the
cornyism in place in both companies.

the paranoia and backstabbing in corporate offices will be legendary. the only
ones i feel bad for are the direct retail store employees.

they'll be the ones screwed worst

Cingular started configuring base stations with AWE alpha tags as early
as March of this year. m2m will likely take longer since their billing
systems have not been merged yet. They both use Siebel for CRM so it
will theoretically be possible but both companies have poor track
records for Siebel upgrades. There is still some speculation that AT&T
Wireless' last bungled upgrade was fouled up on purpose in order to
start the path to selling the company. Considering that AWE's IT dept's
plan was overriden by upper management, that is not too unlikely. See
    http://www.cio.com/archive/041504/wireless.html for more info.

Those rumor mongers are at it again!

"Plans are already underway to make Rollover Minutes available to you.
Please check back on November 10, 2004 for an update. Our goal is to
have this feature available to you by this holiday season. To get a plan
with Rollover, you will need to change to a Cingular Nation® Plan $39.99
or higher. You will also need to get a new Cingular GSM phone."

The Justice Department was joined in the court settlement by the
states of Texas and Connecticut. A JUDGE STILL MUST SIGN OFF ON THE

I thought the "magic bullet" theory was pretty silly, too. I'd have to
dig up the article, but Vodafone dropped out of the bidding after an
early morning phone call to a Vodafone exec. The theory is that whatever
news was shared prompted Vodafone to drop out of the bidding war.

John, no one cares what you THINK. Stick to the facts.

Just because it comes out of your mouth doesn't mean it's golden or that
