Does this mean that AT&T is going to disappear? Will the customers
have Cingular as their provider or will a new name be invented for the
    entity???

AT&T Wireless will disappear. AT&T (without the wireless -- different
    company) will still be around.

Cingular has said ATTWS customer may keep their plans, but apparently
soon they can only get Cingular plans if they change (i.e. want rollover
    minutes or a new phone).

The entity will be and is Cingular. The trademark AT&T Wireless reverts
to AT&T 6 months after the merger, and AT&T will have a new cellular
company using the SprintPCS network, with whom they signed a 5 year
    agreement last March.

The name "AT&T Wireless Service" wil not go away but it will revert back to
AT&T. It has been leased and the current agreement says that Cingular will be
able to use if for a period of 6 months.

So over the next 6 months, you will find that the AT&T WS logo's and name will
slowly fade away on your AT&T billing etc...

Yes, all customers will be Cingular.
