When I was at the (signs-covered-up) AT&T store they told me that if I
got an "old" phone, such as the Moto V400, my service would PREFER the
cingular towers and won't use the AT&T towers unless there were NO
    Cingular signal.

But the rep told me that if I got a "new" phone, such as the Moto v551,
I will get the full, seamless use of both networks right now.

    Was this true?

Also, with the V551 photos and videos, must I send them via email
messages or can I transfer my photos to my pc, and avoid sending them
over the wireless network and paying for that service?

What do I have to buy to transfer photos to my PC? The PC is bluetooth
capable, if that helps. How can I use the V551 as a modem, when there
isn't any WiFi available? How much will this cost per minute? Will i
use my talking minutes? Can I then have free nights and weekends on my
    "modem"???

    Thanks for your answers!
    =Ron!

Actually a not usable Cingular signal, but otherwise correct.

Yes -- new Cingular phones have ENS, which treats both networks as Home.
However, this benefit is minor, and probably only temporary, since the
networks will probably be combined in the future.

You can transfer them by Bluetooth or cable (given the necessary hardware and
    optional [not free] software).

All you need is Windows XP SP2.

No, you can do it with XP SP1 or even 2k if your BT Dongle supports it. I
do it all the time with my IBM laptop with built in BT and XP SP1. Of
course, it's all 1000x easier on my Macs running OSX, but that's the case
    with everything on OSX.

It's just as easy with Windows XP SP2, which is why I recommended it --
nothing to install (with most Bluetooth dongles), and a more robust Bluetooth
stack than those provided by third parties.
