    Hey all,

I just joined Cingular from ATT, and I picked up the Samsung e317. I
like all of the features, and I'm pretty OK with the sound, though I hear
most give it a so-so rating. I was just wondering if anyone else had any
opinions about the phone. I've only had it a week, and if I'm heading
for trouble I want to exchange phones.

    TIA

    Jim

ARRRGH!, I've read the reviews. I'm looking for anyone's personal
    experience.

    TIA

Personally, i love the size and looks of the e317. It's a nice phone. But
it think is sounds a little tiny to the other party you're talking to.
    That's just my opinion.

I drive and older noisier car and people have complained about background
noise. I now use the LG L1400 and the people i talk to when driving seem to
be happier ( i don't use a handsfree device). My complain with the LG
L1400 is that it's not as sleek and pretty as the e317.

    Re: Samsung e317

I purchased an e317 phone last week and as far as my overall opinion of
the phone, it is generally favorableas far as the features and
    appearance.

I am having some inconsistancies with the audio quality when listening
to callers. Sometimes the volume is great, other times I can barely
here them -- even with the volume turned all the way up.

The biggest complaint I have with this phone, is that when I dial in to
the Cingular voice messaging system, the recorded female voice that
talks you through the menu is so utterly distorted, that I can't make
out what she's even saying! This makes is extremely difficult to set up
the voice system and figure out how to retrieve messages! I tried 4
different e317 phones, and that all did the same thing. I called
Samsung and they said it it Cingular's problem. Cingular says it it
    Samsung's problem.

I am taking the phone back because I am still within my 30 day
    warranty.
